New concept from good old Valerio Grassi.
He was the designer of the first Omer footpockets and of the existing Seatec Vela footpocket. This new one is a traditional fp with a "plus": as you see the main feature is the sole bit, connecting the foot piece to the blade to reduce power dispersion. Me I had never seen a similar thing before, but it looks like it does make sense.
Your impressions?

The concept looks a good one. Are they really transparent or is it pictured like that to show the insert?

I think it's a drawing to show the insert and that the actual product will be black.
I apologize for the BIG picture I posted, but if I reduce the pic size you won't be able to see the insert bits clearly, and that's the interesting thing. I found the pic in the news" section of Seatecs website and it does not specify much (no text).
I guess the new footpocket will fit the existing plastic Vela and carbon Forza 8 Seatec blades. No more details, sorry, but I thought (and still think) the sole concept is something really new!
Maybe Dave of spearo.uk who is the english seatec dealer can enlighten us and eventually review the new fins...

The insert looks great. My question is How are you going to get it on? It looks like there wouldn't be enough room to get your foot into the footpocket.

As I understand it they would be just like putting on a pair of training shoes, i.e. they would be either laced or have Velcro straps.
What we all need is for someone to take the plunge and buy a pair and then we’ll see what’s what.:):)

very interesting I wonder size's and price of product also performance if any.....

I know have a set of these footpockets with some Forza 8 carbon blades.

The footpockets are very stiff and very hard to get on.I do have the size up from my normal shoe size.Because they are so stiff ,once on they have caused some blisters on my heel.

I will look for some softer footpockets to put the blades in.

I don't a clear benefit to stiffening the sole of a fin footpocket. The soles of my Beuchat foot-pockets seem pretty thick and stiff anyway...perhaps they are lighter though? I would think most power comes on the down part of the leg-stroke which I would find the foot hard up against the top of the foot pocket, not the bottom. Perhaps the fin also levers the sole against the bottom of the foot? It might also wear through the rubber footpocket over time. The Omer footpockets & Seatec gear seem well regarded, so it will be interesting to hear how these perform. Transparent or translucent blades would be a bigger selling point for me.

I have now put the Seatec Carbon blades into my Dessault Footpockets.

I will let you know how i get on next week with the fins.I still need to get some bigger footpockets but finding Dessault footpockets only is very hard!

The New Seatec Footpockets are far too hard in my opinion.

Already Done? :)
Did the Seatec blades fit well into HD f.pockets?

(Glowworm I've mailed Seatec company and a few dive shops about the issue, but they must be on holiday... Everybody seems to be on holiday these days in Italy, except yours truly :head).

Hope the fins will work well for you now.

The Seatec blades and footpockets have an extra screw in them compared to the Dessault footpockets and blades so we will have to see.

Thank you for the emails:)

Try here (price 22 euro is intended for a single footpocket, you have to specify you want 2 of them in your order form):
Scarpetta Singola [Mares] - 22.00Euro : Scubazar, Aquista qui la tua attrezzatura subacquea

i commented on another thread how hard and tight I had found Spetton Pockets after a year with Cressi and Imersions. I hated them at first and looked to swap too, but in hindsight a tight hard pocket gives amazing power transfer that is 100% needed on deeper shots. If you are tootling around you want comfort, but for those deeper days, sacrifice a little comfort for power. Maybe Seatecs were made for the second scenario?

I understand what you are saying Azapa but they are so stiff i cannot get my feet in to the footpocket that is for feet bigger than mine.

My Dessault footpockets are size 44-46 and the Seatec footpockets are 46-48 but it takes twice as much effort to put the Seatec footpockets on.

I could understand a stiffer sole of the footpocket but to make the whole footpocket stiff is not helpfull:naughty

I have no doubt that the stiff sole is intended for power transfer: less flex, less power dispersion. The concept makes sense, totally, and seems brilliant too.

I can't comment on the practical development of the concept, though: of course I should try them before judging.

I hate to say this, cause I love all my Seatec gear, but so far we have Glowworm's blisters as a user's feedback, and that's not encouraging as for "the practical development of the concept"....

sounds dodgy I know gloworm, but did you try to lube your feet before putting on? Just ocean water won't do sometimes, a little wetsuit lube helps my spettons on most times out (when i remember)

I would love to try the blades in a softer Seatec footpocket which is shown with the Forza 8 carbon blades on their web site.

I do have to wear 3mm socks as the water at the moment is 18deg but in the winter it can be as low as 8 deg.

I understand the concept of a stiff sole but not whole footpocket
