The new 2009 version of this extremely accurate speargun features a new handle, with a thicker and more anatomic grip, available both for left handed or right handed at your option.
I've heard the new handle will be mounted bot on the Seatec Gabbiano Trb (with the good old articulated muzzle+screw in bands) and the Gabbiano Snake (with the open muzzle for double loop bands).
I've also heard there will be a camo type available too. :)
I'll have to give look into the new boy! :) :)

Spot on, DD! remember the song? "Ch-ch-Changes...Just gonna have to be a different gun..."
I confess I'm still undecided between the classic 77 and the Snake 80...

SNAKE 80!!!!! although way, open muzzle for me anyway has always been much more accurate and rubber are easier to make for open muzzle than the pain in the behind european looped bands i still dont understand why we persist with threaded rubbers....

if they made the snake in a 130 with a 7.1 0r 7.2mm shaft id be sold. but then again i'd have to get it to australia and it would cost a firtune, probably just weight for my HF130 thats coming soon.

Spago take a snake 90
its easy to load with 2 bands
powerful
easy to handle or maneuver
more distance
you wont regret mate
i could spear in 2 m of water with my 110 snake
so ,,,,,

Thanks for the advice Eyal, which I agree to be a very good advise. But I already have a very good 90 (Omer XXV Gold 90) and a very good 95 (C4 Monoscocca 100, whose overall length is equal to a 95/96). And more: I already own a Snake 120-------------------> zzZZAPPP!!!!
What I'm going to buy now is a 75'ish gun, the size of gun I use the most (and have more fun with).
I do really love my Gabby trb 77 (I think I have never missed a shot with it) and I think it's the best gun in his category.
Only the handle grip is a little bit to skinny for my hand (in facts I have it "home made" thickened up with tape and neoprene inserts).
The new 2009 is basically the same gun, but with the more ergonomic grip I was hoping for...:)

my TRB 90
i put some special SICAFLEX for a better grip
i didn't find the handle so skinny but anyway
i wish U luck make
the TRB is one of the best aiming guns i used
the best in SEATEC us the spears
good durable flexible low profile (the EXTEM SHARKFINS )
the new handle look great
i really think that to have a gun design & also manufacture in Italy 100%
is better
thanks for the INFO mate :friday

When i look at the photos i dont see a lot of difference..the handle was already very good on the old gabbiano.. the part that needed improvement was the loading butt...looked/felt fragile on the old model..this one looks slightly improved...but really the gabbiano is a workhorse and an extremely accurate gun.. i have the 90 which i bought from Mikko...its really more like a 100 compared to the omer (funny, given its essentially the same guy :) )
but my argument here is...if its been doing great all these years, why change it ? :)

Excellent question, Marwan. Why do I want to buy a new one?
I guess the answer is in this gif below: rofl

Excellent choice. I really think I've never missed a shot with my good ole Gabby: the shaft always goes exactly where you point it. (now that I think about, I once missed a shot but it was my fault. Long story though...).

Dafydd just remember that everytime you switch from your old gun to a new one, at first you must get familiar to it: different grip, different trigger sensitivity, different aiming sight...
Bring on a plastic bottle and take some shots at it (underwater) to train your arm on the new gun, then you will be ready for hunting. Enjoy! :)

Are there any international stores other than Spearo UK that sell the Gabbiano range? I know a lot of people find these guns a real pain in the A## to get hold of. I for one would pay top dollar for one.... if I could find a reliable retailer that is. I was hoping Diveshop.gr would have them, but they have no stock in.:head

I made that same upgrade some years ago now Dafydd. (seems odd typing that as i'm also called that!) I went from a 90 comanche to a 90 gabbiano. The comanche is an alright gun but the gabbi is a tool.So solid and trusty.I've tried hard to buy other guns and never managed it (other than a new gabbiano).

Thank you spag for giving me the news i've waited ages for.Looks like a new Snake 80 may well have my name on it!

The Snake 80 looks nice - good for British waters?

Nice being able to fit an extra band if I head off anywhere nice! :D

Might be my Christmas present this year!!!

I bit the bullet and ordered one! 90cm Carbon.

I am now waiting asphetto style by my front door for it to arrive.

I will let you know what I think when it gets here!!

The Snake looks cool and 80 is currently my favourite size* (have trouble deciding between 90 & 75! The smaller one usually wins - more fun, more fish:)). The other one looks cool too though & 90 is a classic med. size.

*Get the 80cm Snake...and then sell it to me when you are next ready to upgrade ;)

I have always used an Seac Sub x-fire 85 and have never felt like I needed a longer gun. In fact I said to my self that i wouldn't go for a longer gun until the day I genuinely felt that the the 85 let me down in terms of range. That day never came. I love the x-fire but sadly the line release died this year so I have had to buy a new gun. I decided to go for the 90cm this time because it seems like the most popular size. I hope It is not to cumbersome. I can't imagine it will be being only being an extra 5cm longer than I am used to. If i feel it is in anyway too long for low vis and hole fishing I will have to get a 75 as well! Shame:)
