New Snorkeling Mask Developed

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Wow!

Looks like they've solved a problem that didn't really exist!

It is fairly inexpensive (if it is of high quality), so that's a plus... But it's so bulky for travel!!!

I want to get one and have a depth challenge to see who can Freedive the deepest with this thing on!!

I bet 20m is a real accomplishment!

The real value to us would be for static, with all of that extra / available airspace.... But the integrated snorkel may just disqualify it's use! LOL

All those people on the video who "can't breath through their mouths" ...and people mock "mouth breathers" :D! (No offense intended to either.)

Can't help thinking that the market for this will be tiny - folk motivated enough to want to snorkel would, I think, usually be motivated enough to figure out how to breath through their mouth. On the other hand, perhaps holiday resorts with great reefs/fish might be able to offer them as an easy intro to surface snorkeling. Actually I could imagine other family members using something like this -- they know how to snorkel but do it so infrequently that this might be more appealing to them. I guess price might also be an important factor - the 39 euro/ £33 price is about what I would expect - if they could get it down to, say, £24, it might become a beach craze. A child size version might be popular too. Assuming it works well & doesn't leak much.

My grandfather had something like this in the 50's Fogged up regularly from the breath. IMHO-Useless for anything but floating on the surface and paddling slowly along.

really useless...
the temptation to go deeper will be cutt-of by the imposibility of equalising with valsalva
and I really doubt that the "snorkelist" know HndsFree eq techniques

When ppl ask me what I'd do if I won the lottery... I tell them that I'd travel to the worlds best Freedive destinations constantly... and they look at me weird, not knowing what that means.

I then simplify it for them and tell them that I'd be a full-time / professional snorkeler.

This is something that I envision a "professional snorkeler" might wear. :D

Now... How to qualify for the pro-snorkeling circuit?? I'm petitioning for it to be at least a demonstration event in the 2024 Olympics. :D
