This didn't come from BoS. This is a Nigerian 419 scam (named after the paragraph of the Nigerian Penal Code that sets out the punishment for this kind of fraud.....

For example, look at the return e-mail address.... Since when does the Bank of Scotland use an Yahoo adddress in ITALY? (the yahoo.it domain is the key).

This is a Scam Spam...... Wish we could find these toads and nuke 'em!

Actually, according to an article that I read, the americans were the biggest victims of the Scam!!! Furthermore they showed Nigerian scammers in beautiful luxury cars parking outside of Internet Cafe's!!! rofl rofl

I got that email too in my deeperblue.net account, it was an italian address that sent it but Im sure it came from a Bentley driver in Nigeria

This is a very, very popular type of scam. It is especially big for victimizing people selling their boats.

OK, everybody put on your thinking cap for a moment.

"The purchaser (scammer) offers to put down a deposit on the seller's boat by sending a cashier's check that represents a refund from a previous boat deal that fell through, but the purchaser's refund check amount is for more than the agreed deposit amount for the seller's boat. In turn, the seller is required to send back a payment (check, wire transfer, etc.) for the difference of the overpayment in order for the purchaser (scammer) to allow for the cashier's check to clear. The seller sends the payment and then never hears back from the purchaser (scammer) ever again. The scammer's check never does clear because the scammers put a stop payment on their cashier's check." :vangry

Sadly, there are a lot of simple thinking people that get burned by this
ridiculous scam!

oh i know them too well... i used to even receive hand-written ones posted from Johannesburg, to my office in Barcelona..
now that is personal customer service! rofl rofl
