guy/girls.

im thinking of getting a new speargun as iv decided to get a bit more involved in the sport.

was looking at getting a rob allen gun, either splashing out on the carbon or else jusdt going for the scorpio entry level gun as its meant to be a great gun too.. (my family live in capetown so can get one posted home cheap)

i was thinking of a going for a length of 100-110cm with a single 20m rubber but not totally sure..

what would be reccomended for spearing in irish waters?

thanks

I'm not Irish... but I believe that a 90 cm single band gun is a great all-round gun in Northern Europe. I would recommend to spent a little more money and go for the RA Carbon gun. It's not as heavy as the aluminium guns - and that's nice if you're hunting for hours. It's also possible to use double bands (2x16mm) on the gun if you please.
Good luck choosing a gun,
Jégwan

Unless you are going for large fish or very long shots, stay with the stock 16 mm band. It should ahve plenty of power for normal shots.

That said, I'm using a 17.5 mm band on my RA 90, but only to the first notch. It seems to be plenty.
