Congratulations to Stephane Mifsud (FRANCE) who has set a new world record in the STATIC APNEA discipline with a time of 8'24.
(Record set Saturday November 8th pending approval by AIDA)

Congratulations to Stéphane.

8'24'', that's an impressive number.
The best inofficial static performance I've ever heard of is Timo Kinnunen's 8'29'' in 2002-12-07, followed by Herbert Nitsch's 8'27'' in Cypress. 8'24'' is pretty close to these numbers. I wonder if it was a personal best for Stéphane.

If anybody knows someone who did more than 8'29'', please let me know.

When is/was Stéphane going for the dynamic record?
Please post the result.

hi

Wow thats's incredible, finally Stepanek's 8:06 has been beaten by quite a lot as well. Who's gonna challenge that ;)

cheers

Wow that's insane, eight and a half minutes... thats the sort of things most of us can only dream about, well done to Stephane!

Yup, that is amazing ! still can't see the purpose of static, or it's connection to diving. it has nothing to do with diving, but that can be debated in many ways. Max, yeah i know some people (yoga masters) who can hold their breath for a long time, how long ? twenty minutes ! hope they never compete, or we'll look a bit ridiculous. however, i do NOT want to be negative as Stephane's time is really huge and it surelly make me look ridiculous.

Way to go Stephane Mifsud! An amazing accomplishment!

I feel a little sorry for Martin Stephanek. He lost two of the most prestigious records in one year. I saw in the Performance Freediving thread where someone said he may try for the dynamic world record next month. Maybe this will further motivate him.

Congrats Stepfane. Amazing time.
I must have gotten some of you energy because without knowing you where doing you magic that day, i broke the Dutch National record at a for your standards humble 6:04. I am very happy with it since i only started freediving one year ago.
But i don't think you should be afraid yet ;)

Oh yeah! Glenn has the Dutch Static record since Saturday! Glenn, also congrats to you! Only a few minutes and you've got the worldrecord!
