New to spearfishing in Santa Cruz

Hello All,
Im new to spearfishing and freediving, although have been in the ocean most of my life (i.e. boogie boarding), just recently got a pole spear and was wondering if there is anyone that goes out in or around santa cruz/monterey that would not mind a rookie tagging along with them, or could at least point me to some good spots in monterey bay, preferably on the santa cruz side, but am more than willing to make the trip to the other side for the better viz.

I have no experience diving around Santa Cruz but I like to dive the Monterey/Carmel areas.
I am a member of the Monterey Bay Tritons, a spearfishing dive club out of Monterey. Monterey Bay Tritons - Monterey Bay Freedive Spearfishing club
If you want more info about spearfishing in the area you should e-mail Dave Deman, the President and local, he can point you in the right direction.

Hey I’m in a similar situation. I live in Santa Cruz I’m brand new to spear fishing, just have a pole spear. Curious if anyone would be willing to take me out?
