Hi everyone I've just brought my first spearfishing package and went on my first dive this weekend, water was clear and calm but when trying to dive down i was actually not able to hold my breath for long when trying to dive to the bottom, maybe max 10 sec whereas my static pb is 2:20m, was wondering if anyone had any tips and advice on holding breath under water while in motion thanks a lot in advance :)

Hi there,
Tones of infos about how to hold your breath on free diving section, but you have to check it yourself.
Good luck and have fun!

It is normal for the first few dives of the day to be disappointingly short, you need time to get used to being back in the water, etc. You need to get comfortable with the conditions. Normally dive lengths improve during the session, i.e. over say 2 to 4 hours.

Also, over the length of the season, it is normal for dive times to improve (get longer) and the time required to get comfortable to get shorter.

Don't worry, it sounds like you just need to get used to your gear and get a little experience under your belt. Try to be smooth and calm, try not to exert yourself or strain.
