I just recently started spearfishing and I was wondering what the pros and cons are for a one piece 3 prong spear and a 3 piece 3 prong spear.

Welcome to the group.

The 1 piece is harder to transport. The 3 piece is not as strong.

Are you looking at a Seahorse or other mass produced spear, or a fancy one (Ohara, Kawabata's or Yokooji)?
The better 3 piece ones should be stronger than a cheap one, but not as strong as a 1 piece.

Also, the material really matters. My 8' Gat-Ku is way fasterd than my Ray Odor (heavy but with a lot of punch if it gets there before the fish is gone.)
