New to the sport and needed some advice

Hello All,
I am brand new to spearfishing and still gathering equipment. I live in Nevada and will therefore be hunting in Northern California (since im in a desert here), I am considering purchasing a 75 cm Cressi Comanche for my first gun.
do you think this is a good gun and choice for the money or what would you say is a better direction to go?

I have one and I like it a lot - but I'm new too and have nothing to compare it with!

That's what I started with found it underpowered bounced off a few fish wasn't happy spend a little more and get something you won't have to upgrade
