Thought I should post some of my recent kingy stabs. I'm Canadian but been traveling NZ for over a year now. Kingfish are great fun and even the smaller ones are capable of draggin a person under if a float line isn't being used.

I dont have the pics anywhere but facebook...so here are some links...sorry I dont know how to go about this any better way.

I shot this Kingy during the New Zealand Spearfishing Nationals and it weighed in at 12.6 Kilos. It was during the Big Three part of the comp (one kingy, one snapper, one cray) and i got my kingy and my cray...if I had gotten a snapper the day would been mine...ah well. My first Kingy, and so far, my biggest. Here is another picture.

And one more pic.

Another day on Capstain Rock in the Bay of Islands my friend Nick and I pegged a couple more...this fish was an even 11 kilos.

We've also managed a few nice Crayfish. Here is My largest so far at 2.3 kilos. My lovely girlfriend Celina is holding it. Strangely she even helped me eat it, how nice of her! Recently a friend of mine got a cray that weighed over 11 kilos and was bigger than his dive tank he was shamelessly using...damned bubbleheads.:naughty

Great story, great fish, great girlfriend..:). Well done Jordan. I am so jealous. Hoping to visit NZ myself one day. I have edited your post to include your pictures. You can remove your facebook links if you want to. I will be entering your catches in the Hall of Fame as you requested.

Dave.

Yep, the odd brute turns up here in NZ. Not my fish, if you're wondering ;)

Spearslinger: Do you have pics of the munter cray? 11kg is effing big.

Thanks for sorting out my pics Dave!

No sorry I dont have pics of the 11 kilo cray, but it was by far the biggest I've seen except in the local museum where they have a carapace from one that weighed close to 13. I've got to ask him how it tasted :t

Chrismar, Spearslinger and any other DB members fishing down under are welcome to post stories and pictures of their catches and then I will include them in the Hall of Fame if you want me to and they meet all the rules for entry. Soon as, I will add Yellowtail Kingfish to the list with the 12.6kg at current #1 and the 11kg at #2. The cray can also go on as a new species along with the kingy. The crayfish (crawfish) we have on at present is the European species. They're there to be beaten.

Dave

As long as it meets the rules re your membership of DB at the time etc then we are still accepting "historical" entries. Sounds like a nice fish and would be a worthy entry. Write the story and post a picture. Contact me if you need help/advice.

Dave
