Hey guys and girls.

I'm an avid surfer who loves the ocean and have recently become interested in free diving. Not so much going to extreme depths, but more being able to hold my breath for a couple of minutes while I swim with the fish.

I read an article in "The Surfer's Journal" that inspired me to become more of a waterman. Like I said, I love the ocean and I enjoy spending as much time with it as possible.

And advice on getting started, training, and/or basics while being as safe as possible would be greatly appreciated.

I surf out of Huntington Beach CA, does anybody know of any spots with decent visibility in the area?

Hi Mondo, and welcome to DB. I moved the thread to "Intro and Greets".

The search function is great for specific contents and the glossary is full of terms that might be unfamiliar at first. There's lots of info here, just browse and don't be shy to ask anything. :) There are quite a few from California on the board.
