Hey lads,

New to the spearfishing world, just a few questions

I have an omer dragon gun which i got on holidays a while back just wondering is it a good gun?

I'am using my surfing wetsuit aswell for now.

and if anyone can point to a reasnoble set of fins and mask would be great

thanks

hi spongebob what size are you? I have a fair bit of gear at this stage and you can try on cressi stuff or imersion stuff that we sell in the shop. I have most sizes in the green imersion fins. lets us know when your about again. mullaghmore was beautiful this morning.

seems like a grand gun, we all begin in a surfsuit as such. you can start off using the cheapest mask and fins... whatever gets u in the water, later when you are sure its for you you can go shopping for gear.... but you never stop :) scubastore and subprof have a great range at a good price with next day courior delivery - assuming the items are in stock.

Thanks for the reply

Probably try and get a cheap mask and fins this week to start me off, i'm off for mid term this week aswell so might try and get out,i'll leave ye know how i get on

Thanks again

Suggest getting a proper spearo mask (& snorkel) - they shouldn't cost any more than any other mask & snorkel, and are often cheaper than less appropriate SCUBA masks. apnea.co.uk in Jersey often have a deal on one of their Omer masks, usually the plain black ones - which is fine. Beuchat Tubair snorkel used to be the best value flexible simple-J spearo snorkel on that website (I like flexible snorkels but that's just a personal preference). Plastic bladed Omer (& Beuchat fins) would probably are well thought of and can provide good value when the price is right. [Alternatively:The Seacsub Combat mask & snorkel are nice too, if you can find a good deal on them. Sometimes see *very* good prices on their spearo fins, on ebay. Prob. from Paignton, Devon dive-store - Scott Wilson can provide details.]
