just started dry static training and have a lot of questions.

i start to get contractions at around 2:15 and usually hold until 3. by 3 minuted my lungs are bursting and i can barely take it. i can do several 3 min holds with 1 min or less breaks in between. after i exhale, i return to normal really quickly. i mean going from feeling like my lungs are going to burst to feeling fine and walking around with almost resting heartbeat in about 2 or deep breaths.

does this mean i have low co2 tolerance and ok o2? and i should work on the co2 tables?

and what numbers should i plug into the tables if i can do multiple 3 min holds with fast recovery times? my pb is 3:40

also i get a little light-headed and woozy after taking a very deep breath, but it goes away after 4-5 secs. i think i read that its pretty common and has something to do with blood pressure. is there any danger?

and finally, my normal breath seems to use very little ~20% of my lung capacity. a normal inhale takes about 1 sec, but a full inhale takes 5 seconds. is this common or weird? and are there any consequences?

thanks in advance for any help.

I think 1 minute rests between near max breathholds are way too short. Try to make the rest at least 3-4 minutes. Just close your eyes, relax and after 3-4 minutes, try again.

1 minute rests may be useful if you want to train "co2 tolerance" type of thing, but if you're just trying to make long statics, it's way too short.

Getting "woozy" after deep inhale...It happens. You'll want to be careful not doing too deep and fast inhales while standing, driving a car, in water alone etc. 2 major things that make it worse are hydration and hyperventilation. Try to make sure you have drunk enough (piss is not yellow) and avoid hyperventilation and see if that makes a difference. Also your posture makes a difference - the problem is worse standing or sitting than laying on your back.

A normal breath is just around 500-1000ml, which is just a fraction of a healthy persons VC, so yours sounds about right.
