I was looking through the tables on the "how to start freediving" thread, and i don't really understand what i am supposed to do! where it says ventilate, i am assuming you hold your breath until the time next to to word ventilate, then exhale. correct? and i am guess static is the amount of time you are supposed to wait between breath holds?

welcome to db metalman.....actually you have it backwords....ventilate means to breath.....so when it says ventilate 2:00....that means breathe normally for 2:00. When it says static it means static apnea, which means stay still and hold breath......so then you would hold for as long as it says....hope that helps...let me know..remember

Ventilate=Breathe
Static=Dont breathe!!!

thanks, that makes sense now!

i was browsing through the site and tried something that a few people had mentioned: hold your breath for 45 seconds, exhale, inhale and hold 45 seconds, exhale, etc. the goal was to do this 8 times in a row. i did it 8 times, on my first attempt... should i try 1 minute intervals?

hopefully someone else will join in on this thread......im not quite sure..i myself havent even started the tables.....i am just started freediving..i havent even tried the ocean yet, altough i am a cert scuba....so maybe someone else can help u with ur question..im not sure if your supposed to keep extendng the time...just not sure....

the way the tables work:
Relax breathing for 2mins
hold for 2mins
Relax breathing for 1:45 mins
hold for 2min
Relax breathing for 1:30 mins
Hold for 2 min
and so on....... you can change your "hold" time if you can't do 2 mins- or if 2mins is easy- extend it.
