Hey everyone

I'm a relative newcomer to freediving - have done my AIDA 2* and have managed just over 30m in constant weight with my trusty scuba fins (full foot Mares Avanti Excels) and a borrowed Aqualung apnea mask. Just wanted to get some views on kit as I reckon it's time to invest in some long fins and mask...

Thanks!

Hi Mate welcome to DB!!! The mask and fins investment will only be effective if you try them yourself, leaks on mask are big hassles when diving. For fins, try out different footpockets from friends or nearby shops so you will know which is a good fit and comfortable with the thickness of socks you will use. Choice of blades are only 3 types so its easy. It could be the technopolymer, fiberglass or carbon. There are lots of threads on mask and fins which you can find here using the search functions.

Cheers

Elvis

Welcome from Texas! Find some local friends & see what they've got. Try it on first. I have hobbit feet and not every fin/foot/boot will fit me. Also face shape & for some nose size makes a difference on mask. Leaks suck (somehow that seems like a diacotomy of terms, but...) trying one out first is the best. Snorkels are the same. Not every mouthpice fits ones physiology and I hate bent tubes, but some like'em. Go ahead Jay or Slingy & make fun of my hobbit feet, I know it's coming. :martial
