Greetings all!

With all of my love for the underwater environment I have not done any freediving...dumb me. I'm a PADI certified scuba diver and even with that have not gone diving in quite some time. Anyway, short story...I want to resume my scuba diving but more importantly I wish to learn about how to approach freediving as a novice. Everything I have read about the sport points to novices like myself being able to learn the various techniques for relaxation (I do practice yoga so there is that) and extending my breath hold time. Got a lot of info from Performance Diving out of Florida and notanx.com from Britain. Living in Austin I would like to connect with some freedivers and learn what I can from them. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

Hi Mark!

Welcome to DB, I'm sure you'll love it around here, as this forum has a huge load of very interesting, and often deep information. People from many different views, places and experiences make for a very rich, and civil discussion.

For me, I used to be a Scuba diver, but now it has shifted to freediving completely.
The helix sport of Freediving has taught me so many valuable things about my environment, body and mind.

My general advice is to take your time exploring, focus on having fun and learning technique. Numbers will come over time, but don't let them distract from the above.

When you have a question, please show some effort and try the DB search function first, there is already so much information there.

I think there are already some Freedivers on DB from Austin.

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars

Welcome to DB from Australia.
And let me be the first to vouch for AGBIV's wonderful nature. A man very worth talking to.
