Press Release: There was a Freediving World Championship on a couple of weeks ago in Slovenia. There were 4 World records and 76 National Records achieved.... where was that reported on DeeperBlue, did I miss the article?

I don't want to rain on Martin and Niki's efforts, I wish them the best and will be keenly following, but a bit of equality in reporting would be nice.

Valid point Benny, where is the DB update?

Love, courage and water!

That's exactly the reason why I started Shark Freediving. There is always enough frontpage news on deeperblue about US and UK based events and stuff, but I miss so much. The great strength about deeperblue is its community and forum, but the news has been a lot better in the past.

You are very right - news and feature reporting has been rather erratic on the FreeDiving front here at DB for a while. There are numerous issues around why news has been sporadic recently but I am working to change that at the moment.

The news you do see is generally because the people involved have generated a press release and sent it to me or one of the editors on here. The UK and US are very good at press releases and that is why those releases get coverage.

As for the worlds - unfortunately financial pressures meant I could not attend this year (or last year) and as is always the case the organisers can't afford to bring media in to cover the event unless they are local media.

So - as I said I am actively working on trying to revamp how news is dealt with by DB but as a community there is definitely things that can be done to help get news onto the site - email me (stephan.whelan@deeperblue.net) any links or news snippets as you see them and I can promise they will get onto the site.

The other alternative is we are always looking for news contributors to help get news directly onto the site so you can always volunteer if you'd like to help drive getting the right news to the FreeDiving public.
