Hmm, I wonder how much of real coral reefs they destroyed (and where it was) for populating one of their stupid artificial islands, where the coral will die or will be destroyed in a few months anyway. I bet that they will need to re-plant the corals and other marine life regularly, and will yearly devastate huge areas of natural reefs.

Dubai never really had any coral, but definitely USED to have reefs. :mute :mute They have totally destroyed the Dubai coast with all this crap. In 1997, when i was here, the beaches were long golden strands with crystal clear water. :head

Not much i can say really, the new dolphinarium just about put the icing on the cake for me.

No, I did not even think they could be so stupid to build the artificial islands on a coral reef, destroying it so. What I meant by the coral reef devastation was that since the artificial lagoons are filled with corals and other marine life, they had to bring them from somewhere. It means that for building those artificial lagoons they had to replant tons of living corals. And of course, when removing the corals from their original location, you can be pretty sure that not 100% of them will survive. And as I wrote, I doubt that they have a good chance to survive for long time in their new home. More likely they will need to be regularly renewed, hence for one stupid artifical island they probably killed worth of multiple times more real living corals that needed to grow for hundreds of years, just because some rich idiots want to have their private coral lagoon.

Shaddy business. Its a damn shame. damn these land based mammals we call HUMAN

not much adventure in an artificial lagoon. swimming with dolphins is nice too but should only be done in nature not artificial captive settings. I don't know about the coral but I know Hawaii supplies the majority of aquarium fish to much of the world much more than the great barrier reef which is a much much larger reef system, this is not sustainable and is very noticeable.
