Well we just got back a few days ago from our 2 week trip to Ningaloo trip.
Its located 2/3 the way up the Western Australian Coast(1300km from were we live)
Its our first time here and it is the best place i have ever fished,Dived, swam.
We had the perfect weather for the whole 2 weeks, besides the nights being a little chilly.
I just mamba kitted my gun a few days before and was anxious to try it there, but i dont know what the problem is but it lacks power now so i ended up using my mates 1200 RA Tuna, but i couldnt load so i didnt really shoot it that much. Plus i had my little sl100 cressi for short shots.
But the scenery there is absoultely beautiful so i wasnt concerned too much.
Unfortunately i dont have my underwater camera yet so all the photos are from above water.

Looks like a great trip Mongrel. Have you had a chance to sample the saily yet? What'd it taste like?

Isn't Ningaloo Reef where all the whale sharks gather each year? The water looks amazing. Looks like great fishing!!!

Yes Dallas the whale sharks are at Ningaloo but unfortunately i was too busy spearing and fishing to go have a look :)
I did see whales though on alot of occasions.

Hey Mongrel....Exmouth rocks! Next time I'm in.....how did that Sailfish taste??
Hey Dallas...come in April-May-June I think for the whalesharks....very cool.

I've seen one whaleshark about 40 miles off the Texas coast next to an oil rig we were spearing next too. Great experience. He hung around for about 15 minutes. It was a juvenile one about 18 feet long

Yeah Ningaloo and exmouth was awesome..... The trip is the same time each year on the kids school holidays. Next year me and Zoran are thinking about staying an extra week though as 2 weeks just goes to quickly.

Ya bloody great bastard! Showing me photos like that when I'm stuck at work!!

Very nice though, looks like an absolute blast.

Hey Dallas,

Great pics of the whaleshark....I hear they are pretty tasty too:head
Hopefully there were a few cobia hanging out with the whale shark and not just remoras.

I just came back from Japan, I think a few crew would find these pic's pretty interesting.

Cheers

Cam

bluefin tuna mmmmmm i read an article somewhere that blue fin is in trouble...

PM - Hopes captive breeding will save endangered bluefin tuna

Hey DD:girlie

Nice work on those stories....very interesting reading.:)
It 's true about those blue fin tuna stocks being under threat, hopefully aquaculture may take some pressure off the wild stocks but has its own issues as well.

The hard decisons protecting an intercontinentally roaming species like tuna (or whale!) is who has the jurisdiction to protect it? One country does the "right thing" by not over harvesting and then as soon as they are in "international waters" another country with their dedicated tuna fleet catches the rest, not giving the stock a chance for replenishment:head
Keep your fingers crossed and eat local species?!

Keep your fingers crossed and eat local species?!

i have tried to stop eating local fish, mainly because our water here is so polluted :rcard - also because fish in general is low in stocks - however i have just been advised to eat more oily fish to try and combat my ever-so-annoying mucus formation problem, less red meat :(, more fish, and no red wine! What is left in life????

There were about 6 medium sized cobia's under the pectoral fins of the whale shark which my friend made quick work of. He literally held onto the pec fin of the whale shark and took careful point blank shot and got three of the cobia's before they decided to split. There were also about half a dozen sharks following about 40 feet behind the whaleshark. They got a little frisky when we started spearing.

Such a shame that it is so polluted, same as the Egyptian side. I got a shock in the Red Sea in Egypt, so many plastic bags, and that was 12 years ago. I can send you over something tasty if you like, the waters are pretty good here still, particularly up north.
Umm..whats left?....I guess there is still diving and chatting on Deeperblue:blackeye

Nice pics...I thought they were just remoras, best not to miss and get the whale shark:head. It would be nice to train the whale shark up and take you for rides everywhere?
Those "men in grey suits" always seem to get a bit frisky when they think a free feed is coming on.
