I have a Omer Airbalete 100 and it does not have the power it once had. I had it serviced by a Omer rep in florida but even then it just doesnt have any thrust. Its powered up to 270-300 psi but does not shoot with enough force to do much of anything, so it sits collecting dust while I use banded guns (Riffe's). Any ideas would be welcomed. Gun is about 4 years old and used to smoke em. I'd love to get it up to speed if anyone can offer a fix or solution. Thanks.

If the gun has air pressure then the piston may be the culprit as in having a damaged seal which while not leaking imposes more friction thus slowing the shot. Depressurise the gun and pull the piston out, you will soon know by looking at it.

Popgun Pete-
I dismantled the gun and pulled the long silver metal tube out. At the top end of this tube there are a series of threads and then a 0 ring. After the threads the long length of the tube is smooth. At the top of the smooth part is a approx 3/4 inch hard black plastic band. This band sits in a pre-fab groove. The hard palstic band is not complete-it does not connect. Either this is to make it easy to slip on the tube OR it is a unintentional split in the loop. Is the hard plastic band supposed to be split?

The hard plastic band is meant to be split, it is a locating collar that performs the function of a circlip. You use circlip pliers to spread the ends and take if off the alloy tube, but I don't recommend doing it, they are easy to snap if you are not careful. So you have pulled the inner barrel out, which I don't think you really needed to do, but as you have the gun apart then you may as well look at everything. Guns lack power either due to insufficient pressure, throttled air flow (a blockage in the air transfer ports) or increased friction on the piston. Inner barrel surface damage is unlikely unless the gun was fired with the inner barrel chock full of sand and I don't see that happening as air would then be leaking from the gun uncontrollably. When you pull the piston out check its surface for small scratches and gouges just in case the gun has swallowed a small pebble, it can happen as I have found a few in my old guns used in shallow water and gritty locations. As the "Airbalete" floats it should be away from such problems unless the loaded gun has been allowed to roll around on the bottom.

While I think about it are the muzzle ports open? If closed the revolving plastic shutters hydro brake the gun and slow the shot. Remove the hydro brake and throw it away unless you really need the lower power shot, it was not a good idea as any power regulator should be operable from the rear, not from the muzzle.

Make notes and sketches as you work or you may not remember where everything goes for the reassembly and keep everything clean or you will introduce new problems which will emerge later.

Thanks Pete for the info.
Everything looks flawless-no damaged o rings, piston looks good. All i can think of is to check the spear to be sure there is not a slight bend that I have not noticed. I will check that and if still weak on power, send it to Keith at Omer in Florida. He is doing the DEMA show in 2 weeks and if he cant figure it out he'll ask the OMER reps. Thanks Again.
