Lo guys,

My omer mimetic suit is on its last legs which I feel is abit dissapointing. I have only had about 20-30 dives in it but the inside is starting to come apart at the seems with a few tears under the areas that are more prone to stress (the suit is now shiny with the amount of black witch abuse). I don't know whether it is due to an increase in body size or whether these wetsuits are made to be renewed yearly?

I was thinking about one of those new Cressi suits as all my Cressi gear so far may not be the best looking, smoothest but it is all very durable! WOuld anyone else have any non-custom fit suit suggestions?

Cheers

Dave

With only 30 dive on it I would just glue the seams back together and used it until the holes got too big to patch. Many coatings wear off over time and you just need to use more lube to put them on when that happens.

Having said that, I've owned Cressi suits in the past and they are just about the toughest freediving suits I've ever used. Maybe not a flexible as some other suits that I've owned, but certainly durable.

I have used the Cressi Supercomp for 2 years x 6 times month dives (wow, like 144 times) or so and it is in top shape bar urchin spike holes and where I have hit rocks etc.

It is extra extra flexy, so much so that despite being a 7mm I can easily put on and remove solo.

I must say though, may be me, but it does not feel as warm as it did last year. I guess that happens.

I would by a new one though as >140 dive days with any suit must be considered good?

The Cressi Comp suits are tough as nails. I had over a hundred dives through mine before I tossed it. My Picasso Dark suit now has 10+ dives through it and is also holding up well.

For open cell inside get a Beuchat, i have mine for a year now with twice a week average use on reefs and still looks brand new. For nylon inside get the Mako, its really like a tank, i'm overweight for the suit but it fits me well and strech well and the stitching are very well done. Thou i have to loose a few pounds to get me back in diving shape, damn beers...hehehehe. I've been hearing some good stuff also in the Mako open cell, worth checking.

My tailor-made 5mm Elios ecoline suit has been great value, consistently warm for several years (3+ yrs?) -- I almost got heat exhaustion the first few times I wore it and that was in November! But this year, for the first time, it struck me that I was feeling a little chilly and think the suit might be loosing a little "loft" - although it might just be that I have lost a little weight as I got some cold water shooting up my back last dive out:D.

I like the look of those Predator wetsuits that Miles & MrsFish wear, the "macro" patterns break up your outline without looking like military camo.
