Anyone spear in North Devon?

Was thinking of a trip down to Croyde for a bit of winter spearing this weekend. Anyone know what the vis is likely to be on the weekend?

Any other suggestions for North Devon Spearing this weekend - have never speared there?

Try PM'ing Pav. He lives round there.

Went for a look at Lee this morning with my new suit.
Couldn't see the end of my spear!
I guess I'll have to wait for a bit or travel further afield.

Hi, I'm new to the Spearo thing. Been out twice now and had a blast. If anyone is out in north Devon drop me a line. It would be nice to join others. Ted
p.s. I've PMed Pav.

Welcome to DB! Just as it was starting to clear we have another 2ft of swell and s.west winds forcast this morning.

hi guys, im a spearfisher who until recently was just into shellfish, crabs and lobbies. my dad owns the pub at lee bay and im going to be out pretty much every day from mid july. anyone who wants to come join me is more than welcome, ill show you what there is to be found in the bay, i reckon it's a little more wave sheltered that most of north devon barring estuaries.

Rowan - you are a very lucky boy! Lee Bay is a cracking dive spot. Look out for a 3 year old D3 rolling around in the sand somewhere around there! The remainder of a legendary dive in 2006!

Welcome Teddy0 & Rowan.Harvey. We just had lobster, spider crab & crayfish for dinner, with some savoury rice. There was a lot of shell for the amount of meat but it made a pleasant change. Pub on a good diving bay - sounds idyllic.

Rowan, I've just sent you a PM. Anyone else interested in heading out get in contact and I'll give you a bell. Great lobster Rowan! Ted, Braunton

yes, finally we have some keen local deeperblue members!
I've not done much locally yet this year, although mackeral being caught from Yaks. I've been spearing on southern waters! , but shouldn't be long now for our waters to clear!

Rowan, Have you been in yet? What's the vis like this week? Ted

no im in falmouth bay at the moment, vis is perfect for bass hunting here though. only been in at high tide on a 3ml wetsuit, short fins and a £20 speargun so not too exciting.

Rowan, Oh well - warm water here soon. PM me your mobile and email and we can arrange a fish and a beer. Ted

Anyone know if the vis getting workable on the North Coast? Thinking of going in this weekend.

I was thinking the same, it should hopefully have given us enough calm weather to see something.... If it's like last year it won't last for long. Anyone been in?
Fingers crossed

had to work in Plymouth today .. so south coast it was when I was finished.

I'll be checking this week locally. Fingers crossed we may be able to see past the end of our guns now! I hate swimming into rocks :head

Certainly should be good enough to scramble around for some lobsters.
