Ever since last weekend, when I overheard a woman on one of the many boats allowed to park overnight - for weeks on end - along the beaches here, immediately adjacent to swim areas - talking loudly on her cell phone about how her boat toilet flushes into the bay, I've been on Turd watch.
Well, this morning - as we suited up for a morning dive - I looked out to see a little boy climb out from under the cover on his parents boat, stand on the transom, pull down his shorts and crap right into the bay, with the wind blowing toward the swimming beach a few feet away. Unfortunately for mom - he partly missed and she had to get up and clean off the boat.

Here we have our intrepid marine pooper pulling up his drawers - note dark deposit on the right end of the transom

Here he goes to tell mom she needs to cleanup the transom - a little better resolution on the turdage

And here's mom - keeping that nice boat clean. Too bad about the water.

Yes, I did call in the MC number.

Diver Flag Education

On another note - last weekend some dickweed in an inflatable ran right over me as I was surfacing - clearance was maybe 12 feet. Moreover he didn't even come back and let me yank him off his boat and drag him down for awhile. Anyway - here is my response - which I'm posting anywhere they'll let me.

Good job on reporting the polluter.:martial

Good luck trying to get the boaters to obey the law.

The worst lake I've ever been on was Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. I used to work on a charter boat there and we would throw all kinds of dive flags in the water, besides the one we were running on the boat, and we'd still get people driving their boats over the bubbles to come up to our boat and ask us for directions!:head :head You'd think if you were smart enough to earn the money to buy a $75,000 boat you'd be smart enough to learn a couple rules of the road when driving it.

I have taken to video taping the boat numbers of fishermen who break the law and come too close to me.:rcard It may not do much for me when I'm dead, but at least my wife will be able to sue the crap out of them to pay for my kid's college after I'm gone.

Four letters for me: S-E-T-I

I just spent the afternoon along the lakefront and was completely overwhelmed by the bumbardment of goose droppings. I hardly got any work done as I kept trying to scrape the goose turds from my running soles.
The Accenture Chicago Triathlon swim is right in those waters...

It was lost cause, and all the way home, I kept thinking I gotta check out this thread. I didn't read it before, but now, I was curious to see what others had to say about this plague of goose poop. It's huge. It's everywhere.

Little did I know! rofl I guess goose poop is the lesser of my worries...

AAhh yes, I've dived with the ellusive brown trout a couple of times too :)

I remember being on a trip in the Red Sea once and a mate of mine asked me to tell him when we arrived at the dive site, we were on a liveaboard. Once we got there i gave him a shout expecting him to kit up but he remained absent. (we were on SCUBA, sorry)

I got into the water with my buddy and dropped to about 5 metres and saw a massive Napolean Wrasse, a magnificent creature must have been about 6 or 7 feet long. Then we saw one of these brown trout creatures coming from the bottom of the boat and floating down. The Napolean spotted it and gobbled it up. Its he closest i've ever been to throwing under water.

When we got back it turns out he had deliberatly timed his evacuation for when the group went down for a laugh. Diseases aside i suppose it was.

The only problem with those diver flags is jet skis see them and use them as turning buoys. :martial

I am so sorry for the situation Fondue. Just seeing bits of plastic or a coke can on the bottom sickens me. I was just in Sardinia, and the bottom there is littered with rubbish. You must really love the sport to be getting in that water.....
ideas:
- night dives and sharp knife on moored boats?
- get your local council to sponsor your propaganda campaign
- some kinda of "turdapult" (tm) to return the good deed to offending boaters?

Ya...ya think thats funny? Well I was snorkeling in Hawaii once with rental gear...I went with a group of people and a "guide" and some guy crapped his speedo right in front of me:naughty. No....I don't know why I was looking at his ass but in a way I'm glad I was!!!!I didn't have to swim through his "brown cloud"!!!!:yack Anyhow I was gagging in my mask & heading back to shore when the "snorkle guide" grabbed me by the fin and asked me where I was going? I turned around and pointed at the guy & said "HE JUST POOPED HIMSELF IN THE WATER & I SAW HIM DO IT!!!" It was the most disgusting thing ever!:yack

Anyhow every body started freaking out and backing away from the guy & got out of the water. Some of us asked for our money back & got it...INCLUDING THE GUY WHO POOPED HIMSELF!!!

About 6 other people from the same group went right back out! :head

:t apearently that must be the "POOP" deck in michigan:t

ok ok Ill get back into my box now!
