Hey

Anybody got any norway spearfishing dvd's ive got The LOFOTS one but im looking for Frivannsliv
:)

On this theme Scott, some of my favourite youtube spearing vids are flatfishing in Norway. In fact I enjoy most of the ones from Norway, probably 'cause their conditions are similar to ours. There's one particular vid where the bottom seems to be paved with big plaice and despite the fact that the spearo's appear clueless (no offence) they still get a string full. I fancy a go there.

Dave

you and me both dave. the lofots dvd shows big shoals of cod and pollack that makes me want to buy a plane ticket

ryanair used to fly into haugesund in west norway. not sure if they still do, but it a cheap flight option.

Ive thought about booking a fishing package holiday to norway, they usually include flights, taxes, b&b and boat hire for the week ( or however long) I like the idea of a self drive as you have freedom (withing reason) to come and go as you please.

Lots of adverts in the sea angling mag's for trips to Norway. It's the in place at the moment. If it was a self drive boat option + accommodation you could just spear rather than angle, or even spear and angle. However some of the charter trips/guides might cater for spearo's anyway.

my dads 50 next year and thought about taking him to norway for the cod bashing or to the ebro ,spain for catfish! i was watching john wilson the other day he was in norway. he was fishing in 7meters of water and he said he could see the cod taking his jig. looks mint

I've seen the JW one a few times that's where they're actually trolling for cod and he say's you can see the bottom and practically see the fish. Henry Gilby also does a Norway where he's shore fishing and catches loads. However, I know that it's deep close in in some of the fiords.

Couple or three years ago there was an artical in the angling mag's about an 8lb plaice caught in a Norwegien bay in 20 foot by an angler.

I would fancy a go at spearing cod and pollack but it's the plaice and anglerfish that tempt me. I wonder about turbot, brill and sole. They're all relatively cold water fish.

Dream on.

Dave

Norway is a very big place and all the bigger when its the coastline you want to explore.
For all the Northern Norway stuff and trips out to the Lofoten Islands etc. I would recommend getting some pro guiding and go at the right time for whatever you are after.
Mid to north Norway is where you'll get near contact with those porno schoals of pelagics but it's big country up there and hard and expensive to get around.

For what OMD is talking of then there is here in the west :) Cheap to fly to (Stavanger, Haugesund, Bergen), easy for fly drive. You can of course get plenty of Pollack and Cod but there is Plenty of Anglerfish, Wolffish, Plaice, Lemon Sole, Dabs, Flounder and there is some cracking Turbot down Stavanger way.
I'm sure if you dropped a note to Frivannsliv they can give you all the info you need or probably arrange something.

great Idea!!!!!!

I reckon Hire a bus and drag the UK DB crew across to Norway for a crack at the cod and Local ale!!!!!

OMD what about the Halibut:)

I'm with you on the flatties but the cod are also tempting.

Oh dear... what is it with you lot and the cod? lol.

Codfish are bread and butter, they are dumb and greedy and can offer nothing in terms of sport that a bass could.
They are everywhere, most of the time tho and you wouldn't have to go into the wilderness to shoot some.
I'm only impressed with haddock that have been shot!

Have a look at the pics on Frivannsliv.no - Hovedside and you will see whats being shot and where... the majority of fish on there is in the west around Bergen.

You book it and i've got two definites for you already. Money ready to go!
Ferry from Newcastle then self drive and B&B about £450-£600.

Tribs

sea beds littered with big fat plaice and cod and pollock in abundance! looks like heaven.
