I'm off to Denmark on Saturday. There are sea trout kicking about but they're a bugger to attract so I thought I'd have a go at making a flasher and see if that helped. I'm planning to use it for bass here in the summer if it's any good...

The ladder is made of 250lb mono, plus some stiff plastic tubing to hold the rungs apart top and bottom, glow in the dark tubing, beads, cod rattles, spoons and dexter wedges.

The float is an old pull buoy I had from swim training, cut to take a spool of mono do adjust the depth, secured with bungee.

The bungee is for me to either attach the whole thing to my main float, or for me to jig the thing up and down from the bottom.

Was harder to make than I first though, took me a few goes...anyone used them in the UK at all?

Ye i use a flashers along with some noise makers.

It works grate when using feathers for maks as well.

Nice job.

That's a really nice flasher. I really like the SA flashers, esp. the Rob Allen ones -- works of art really. I've made a few but not as nice as yours. I've packed them in my car but never bothered taking them into the water. Although this season I'm thinking of using some kind of chum bag set-up. Funny I've been interested in flashers & chumming from the beginning but never really tried them. Former staff member Alison, used to suspend chum bags above the sea floor, apparently quite successful for bass in N. Wales.

I guess placing my baited lobster pot on the way out, is a form of chumming. I also wonder if de-hooked mackeral feathers & the like might be a more appropriate size/form for UK waters.
