Vis should be pretty good by then. I have seen more carp here than at any other spot I've gone (except the outlet in the Spring when I was not diving):vangry

How about a $10 entry fee, winner (most carp) takes all? :inlove

Fill out the poll & review this first post for updates.

you Really want me to take your money? rofl I may bring my boat and park it out in the water as a point for people to rest, take a break, hold some gear and for me, at least to unload my full stringers :martial- I just despose of my carp in Gene's Lawn - He told me he likes them as fertilizer and would like it if everyone did that :t

I can't Wait!!!! It'll be a Blast!

Dump dead carp on Gene's lawn- got it!

Sounds good to me, I'll have to see how my to do list looks at that point.

Jon

Anyone caught dumping carp on my lawn will be burried with the carp after a flogging at an undisclosed location! :martial

I can't wait either. I hope the vis improves from what it was the last time...about 8' or so. Bobby & I were there earlier in the year (when we got 15) and one could see about 15'. We have been seeing 30+ carp on every outing. It is just with the poor vis, they see you and are gone in a flash. All has been in water less than 20' deep...usually less than 10'.

We will have to take great care to be safe...be sure of your target and beyond...no shooting into the mist of where they were.

There are also some gills, perch & crappie, but I'm usually after the carp.

Got to watch out for the bass too. I may bring some night crawlers for hand feeding the bass...never tried it, but would be a cool shot on video.

I'm excited...should be a good outing.

Gene

I just found out I'm working that day at the dive shop. The other guy at the shop will be at DEMA.

Good luck guys. I'll be doing my part for honor and Country.:waterwork

I tried posting something on Lake-link to see if the line guys know where the carp are and where the best vis is...Keep checking the first post for any updates.

I hope to get to Green Lake a couple of times before the event to find where the biggest populations of carp are hiding. May just be for a couple of hours after work, but it will be better than not going.

Gene

Tass -

Shine those boot and get a haircut!!!!

I hated doing Reserve time after active duty...They were so gung ho about trivial stuff...LIKE SHOESHINE AND HAIRCUTS!

I won't be there either...I'll be doing my duty for the DNR and Wisconsin for sure then...Deer ruttin' time!

I plan on hunting that weekend too- The Carp Fest is only till 1pm - That's gives me plenty of time to hunt Deer. Plus the RUT is for several weeks- This may be our last organized event before Freeze-A-Palooza- Just a thought-

Gene - I went to Green Lake today for just a little bit- I went in at the south west corner- at the boat launch- I didn't bring the boat- The viz was pretty bad- maybe 4' and I didn't see a fish anywhere. But It was very shallow for a long way- I never got in water deeper than 7' - I'm sure for the Carp Fest I'll have the boat and we can go anywhere- some guy told me I should of tried across the lake (north west) but I had to get going and was pretty tired from swimming around- I put back on my 5mm- and need to add more weight- Huge difference with the 5mm open cell and the 3mm neo - I couldn't even feel the temp of the water- and it was 58 degrees.

So are we going or not? ILDiver and Tass can't make it so do You guys want to reschedule?

I will be there even if I'm by myself, but I think Scott is going too. Come along...we'll show you some carp.

I've been messaging with someone on a different web site (Lake-Link: Beyond The Water - Fishing Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Indiana, North Dakota and South Dakota!), and he says vis is between 12' - 20'. Another guy has said he has seen a lot of carp jumping.

My son & I have gone a few times when the vis was not as good...we still saw 25 - 30 carp, but they were fast out of sight with the poor vis. Now should be a different story!:martial

I may do a little "scouting" trip this weekend & see what I can find.

Gene

Scott...I guess that takes out the SW side. Someone mentioned the NW side by Horner's Landing & said the vis was between 12' - 20' (he could see bottom in 20' of water). I am planning on checking things out a bit this weekend...thanks for the post.

If I go, and find the vis to be bad, I still want to go on 11/3...I wonder what the Power Plant is like in Sheboygan around this time of year...I really want to do that this winter.

Gene

Yeah I still want to go there- I'm jsut saying we may need the boat- to move from location to location just incase. Yeah the NW is where the guy told me to check too. He was over there Kayaking yesturday and said he was spooking them alot on that side- But Like I said - he told me this AFTER I was done. I still plan on killing carp on 11/3 - I would like to check out that power plant someday too- especially now that the water is cooling off.

Scott, I checked it out today...went to the SE side off Horner's Landing. I was not too happy with the vis...5' - 15'. mostly about 7 or 8. I was only able to go for 1 hour. I saw 8, shot at 3 & got 1 (2 were long shots...one I hit, it pulled out line, but was gone, so I must have only grazed it...my barbs have a 4" spread - I can't imagine one pullin off if it is a fairly good hit...I'm also double banded now).

So, before 11/3, we will need to decide where to go. Perhaps the Power Plant would be worth a try. I have also had someone say that Kewanee (sp) has some huge carp cruzing the breakwall. Green Lake seems to have the numbers, we just need to find the visability.

Keep in touch. I hope to go to Green Lake 1 - 2 more times before 11/3. We'll decide as we get closer.

Gene

I have monday & Tuesday off- I hope to get there and check out different parts of the lake- I want to try the north west and see how it is. It doesn't matter to me where we go- as long as we can have shots at carp-

Scott, I've been messaging a guy on Lake-Link about Green Lake. He said the wind on Thursday & Friday really messed things up visibility wise...it was much better before. So, hopefully things will calm down before 11/3.

keep in touch.

There is a launch on the NW end that was pretty good before. I also have someone I can go off their docks on the far WSW side. If you can figure out a way to get to Norwegian (sp) Bay on the NW side, it might be good as it is on the West shore & has deeper water associated with it.

Gene

I'm planning on going to Green Lake tomorrow (tues) - sometime after 11:30am. If anyone wants to go. I'm thinking about checking out the NW end. Not bringing the boat- I got my new WATERWAY NEMO MONO today! I might drag that around with me and play with that if I can't find carp or if the vis is bad. I'm pretty sure everyone is working or Sleeping (tass) - But I thought I would throw that out there- that I was going.

We are going to meet at the SOUTH WEST boat launch on K. I should be there and ready to go by 10am. There is a Bridge out next to the launch - but it's not a bad detour if you are coming from the western region. Acording to my advance math skills - I believe we will be having 2 Spearos show up (Gene & Myself). If anyone else is planning on coming - please post and fill out the poll. Not sure what kind of food might be there - but it could be "Punch & Pie" ,YES I said.....Punch AND PIE!!!! You won't know unless you show. rofl

Punch and pie
Punch and pie
punch and pie
punch and pie

aaaaa....The flyer said there will be Punch and Pie here? I don't see any Punch or Pie. Awe Hamburgers!
