Next sunday i will have my first freedive competition consisting of a static in the morning and a dynamic in the afternoon.
I am just a beginning and enthusiastic freediver so am not looking to score here. But I was wondering how to deal with the nutricion part of the day, since general rules of thumb about not eating ~4 hours before a dive (whatever dicipline) will not be very usefull, unless eating nothing the whole day is considered the thing to do (which i doubt).

So any tips on the contents of a breakfast (that would improve/not destruct my static) and an interdicipline snack to safeguard a nice dynamic result would be very welcome.

Same of course for drinking although this is less complex. (i think).

Regards,

Glenn

Hi glennv,

For best results don't eat before a static. Have some water, fruit juice or sports drink but no solid food. Depending on when you do your dynamic only eat a small amount or nothing at all. Some fruit would be good.

I was in the Pacific cup, when training & competing for statics, no one really ate before hand. When we did depth training I only ate a light breakfast, like Melon, banana's etc.

Go for a some pasta or rice the night before, to give you plenty of energy for the next day. Also important for freedivers to eat vegies, raw stuff like salads are really good.

Cheers,
Wal

Walrus are ok but I suggest you to eat an spoon of honey, half an hour before you start the static warmup.

Thanks guys. Good tips. I like the one about the honey ;-)
Keep you posted about the results...........
