O2 CO2 Tables Question..

Hi all... i want to start with the table training but want to clear somthing out..
My PB was 2:47, but never broke it again, but can go for 2:00 on a good day. so how do i setup my tables.. ie. ventilate/static? Im a lil thick when it comes to numbers and tables and math hehe.. can someone please clarify or better yet suggest a table for me to follow?

I would greatly appreciate it.

Okay i went to sea and did my first CO2 table today,.. i think i get it :) ... i used the one here on the sticky except instead of holding my breath for 1:30 i held it for 1:00 and went thru the table pretty easily.. so next time ill bump up my breath hold to 1:30 and see.

In CO2 tables.. 1. Ventilate 2:30 Static 1:30.. if i want to bump up the static and start at 2:00 then how much should i bump the first ventilation? Is there a formula?

Also... do i do the table just once a day or can i do it more than once?

Last.. i dont have to do a max breath hold at the end of each table.. or do i?

Thanx and sorry if these Qs were answered a trazillion times.

Repeating a table makes no sense - but if it is not enough, you can always add another round or two. For example you start CO2 table with a constant breath-hold and a 1:30 pause, reduce it each time by 15 secs, and at the end when you get as low as 15 secs, you can repeat it as long as you can. We use to repeat the last 15 secs at least three times. If it is still too easy, just make the breath-hold little bit longer the next time.

Making a max after a CO2 table won't be (shouldn't be) easy. If you do it properly, you should be barely able to finish the last rounds. If you can add couple of seconds, you can try, of course, though.

In contrary, when doing the O2 tables, you may often get quite close to your PB at the end of the table, so pushing little bit the last breath-hold to see own limits better is quite common.

Ok i went for the 130 static and did i think 8 rounds with the last two only 15sec ventilating.. it was a lil harder. So next time ill bump it up to 145 maybe.

So far i have been doing CO2 tables only.. Is thast ok or do i have to do them both?

do one day 02 oneday C02 rest 2 days of week
mon=o2
su=co2
..
..
friday=02
sat=recovery
sun=recovery
some does a week 02 a week Co2 but i find out before doing this worked very well (for me)., i do not use tables anymore.,i find out it worked till 4:45 for me., after i find out boring me and trow it away i do only max hold 3 days following of a week
till 4:45min breath hold tables will help you ., never do same day o2+co2 ., never! never do hiper, too ., apnea increase apnea and learn to live together with constarctions., i like them a lot rofl

In our club, we often do combine both CO2 and O2 tables in the same session and so far I think it works quite well for us. The typical wet static training hour look as follows. We have static training twice a week. More motivated members train some additional tables at home.
  1. 2 or 3 expiratory relaxing apneas. Expiratory apnea means you release a light stream of air until you finish with empty lungs. The expiratory apnea usually takes between 1 and 2 minutes (we do not push too much here)
    .
  2. CO2 table with nine rounds, starting with 1:30 and ending with three rounds with a 15 secs breath-up. The constant apnea time depend on the level of the apneist. Most use time between 2:00 and 4:00. Those who would need longer time, start with a lower breath-up (1 min) and add two or three rounds with 15s pauses at the end instead

Often, we do other exercises, like starting with some empty lungs apneas, semi-dynamic tables: effort (kicking water at the pool edge) - apnea - breath-up; tables with empty lungs; or different games - like pushing each other in pairs under water; etc
 
Ok thanx for the replies fellaz... so far i have been training everything together... but really i feel like im benefiting the most out of just going everyday and diving diving diving... and im already seeing an improvement..

in about 5 days i went from about 45secs bottom time at 35feet to the best time so far of 1:47 at the same depth avareging out about over a minute each time.

I have a question tho... all this time and i havent really felt any contractions... whats the deal?

I have felt contractions before quite a while ago but i was at about 55 feet depth and i didnt even last 30 seconds.. does depth make u get contractions quicker?

speero, you got a good buddy right? You start spending 2 minutes at 35' and you're getting close to black out area. people are different and can black out sooner or later than others. I know this from seeing a black out after 2:30 at 40'.
 
errr buddy heh what buddy? Unfortunatly i dont always have a buddy available.. i know its a no :naughtyno but im not NOT gonna go cuz i dont have a buddy.

Tho i always keep it on the easy side and stay within my limits and never push it when im alone.

Im going to start doing these tables agian, A couple months ago I found this site and started doing the tables, but since football started and everything I have stoped(not by choice). I just dont know anyone here that would do this with me or anything. My friends dont really like the water as much as I do. Its all football,basketball and video games with them;) Would a good schedual to do these tables be...

Monday-c02 tables
tuesday-nothing
wednesday-02 tables
thurday-nothing
friday-c02 tables

and nothing on the weekends.

I remember people saying you should not do them everyday,corrrect me if I am wrong.

In Umberto's book they say that CO2 holds should be half of your PB, and O2 holds should end up being 80% of PB at the longest.

Dunno if this works for people... I just started training last week and I havnt seen much of an improvement.. only about 15 secs on my PB. I think I just need to push myself and go diving more often.
 
Mon, Weds, Fri has always worked for me...that way, your lungs get a bit of a break between each table. I do CO2 tables on Mon and Weds, and the dreaded O2 table on Fri. They weren't kidding when they said freediving becomes a WAY OF LIFE! :D That also gives me the "off" days to swim or use my eliptical machine.
