Hey guys, just wanted to see how many people would be into joining a club in the Orange County area. Ive been talking to Fernando, the clubs president and he has some really cool ideas and things that his club will be doing. The website is set to be up in march and the club is going to be up and running in April. Fernando has established relationships with dealers that are going to offer discounts to club members, there will be a club team, and even a tournament series. If your interested or have any thoughts, negative or positive let me know so I can convey them to him. There is a pre registration on OC SPEAROS - Orange County's Premier Spearfishing and Freediving Club if you fill this out you can get in touch with him to ask any questions.

So no one is interested huh. I thought this would be a cool way to learn from otheres experience and gain knowledge, plus find some new dive buddies and be able to compete against each other. Has any one gone to the site and looked?

I have looked and I wish you luck, but I'm a LB Neptune for the last 27 years.
Our club has a ''one club'' policy.
All the best, Don Paul

Huh thats loyalty and alot of experience, yeah im just excited about this one because its in my area. Thanks a lot, well i hope they dont have a no spearin with guys from other clubs policy, because im still lookin forward to some spring time guidance from some of you guys on gettin my first WSB

I will help when the time comes, I don't like eating fish with all this runoff.
Keep you dive machine in shape with hard exercise.
Cheers, Don

OK, I've looked, but it doesn't look like a good fit for me. I'm just not much of a club type guy. I do all my diving from my boat, so a club beach dive isn't my cup to tea. I might drown with my stiff back trying to get my fins on going through the surf. I might be interested in dropping by a meeting if it were really in my area, but Santa Ana is quite a long haul through all that traffic. And then there is the fact that all you young guys might feel uncomfortable with someone who looks like your grandfathers and is about the same age.

But I wish you success.

I see, yeah might not be your type of diving, but as far as the old part goes seems to me you can really hold your own and would be nice to have a guy with your experience at least stop in so we could take some notes. I dont want to drive to santa ana either, but it might be worth the time so i can gain as much knowledge as possible and meet some more dive buddies. Plus im pretty stoked about the tournaments

Im trying what else should i do besides lots of running, co 2 tables and apnea walking or my newest version of that apnea working! Its too cold for me to hit my pool its like 52 and thats not very inviting. what else can i do or whats the best exercise or combo of them for dive training. Thanks Don.

Kyle

All I do is cycle, run, and lift weights. I don't have a pool to swim in, and I never do tables or even hold my breath out of water. Of course one minute or a bit more is a nice working dive for me.

Be careful with the apnea walking, you don't want to hit your head on any thing hard. No pavement or curbs, if you BO it's like someone flipped a toggle switch. I don't have a pool any more, and the local Y wants 50 bucks a month to swim. I would rather use that for my kid's batting cage fees.
Stick to what your doing, that's great.
Cheers, Don

Best of luck to the Oc Spearos club.
Let me know if/ how the San Diego Freedivers can help you get started.
