Ocean kayak Prowler 13

I got a brochure this weekend just for a browse. For fishing (angling) and for going places/fun etc I can see why kayaks like the Prowler 13 and 15 are popular. However even after reading loads on the other kayak threads I am unsure about spearing from one.
I favour the idea of a smaller, lighter kayak that one person can carry down a long beach walk to the sea including carrying diving gear etc. I was thinking of a kayak as a sit on float rather than a proper boat. If I wanted a boat I'd go in my big boat or buy a little boat like a small RIB.
While I realise that so much depends on who/what/why, I still in theory lean towards the smaller YAK's. However as I have never been in a kayak maybe I've got it wrong.
Any comments?

I have a 9ft miniX , having sold on my serious Yak over a year ago. I did worry a bit about being left behind by my mates paddling prowlers. It didn't prove a concern! Yes they are slower but its not major. Its nice being able to throw it up onto the roof of a Van without rollers! , and portaging is a lot less hassle.
It all depends on your own needs. Anyone thinking yak should really think hard about what thier needs are, rather than what the rest of us think is the right choice (as everything). My choice of yak has changed as my needs have.
Foxfish, .. I guesse the scupper holes are no good for dangling your worm then?! rofl
Pav, I looked them up. Nice. That's exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of. Have you dived off it?

13 is as short as I want to go, I'm used to whitewater boats (my last a 6.5' spud boat

Looked very seriously at the Ocean line they appear quite nice as a sit on. Jon has one and loves it. I chose the Tarpon because I like the lines. A little narrower it tracks well with the weight in it. I get a wet ride but it doesn't bother me. If I had my druthers I would probably choose the Ocean because of the higher capacity verses the weight. I would also choose a longer model just a bit faster and you will appreciate the extra room. My 14 does at times seem small but I like it when its time to throw the thing up on the roof. If you look at the different lengths you will see that there isn't much difference in the weight. My next one will be longer. I do like it as dive platform it is so easy to just throw it on and get out there. You dint even know its back there while towing in the water. There were several times last year where instead of paddling back to the launch I just swam back. Some days the wind can affect the vis here so it allows you to cover some ground. Its pretty easy to get back in with a little practice. I would practice over shallow water at least a couple times to get the routine down. I dropped a fin the first time . You need to know how you want to tether things. I just stab the Flag in the one scupper holes and have 2 different line lengths front and rear so if I want to explore I just choose the right length clip to the bow and one of the d rings in my weight belt. I don't regret the change so far. In fact I can't wait for ice out.

Looked it up yesterday and was going to post a link but forgot, so did it today instead. Still looks good. If it's not too personal Pav, what sort of weight are you? I'm on the larger size, about 15 stone (95kg) and wonder about the max rating especially with weight belt etc.
