has freediving computer and dive recreational dive computer I found it at store in spain for 200 E a way less compared to 340 of d4 (340 is almost the minimum wage in portugal so this is out of question) I need a god dive and fd computer since I'm going to red sea in two weeks be envy

Hey Titan,

Check out this thread:

http://forums.deeperblue.com/freediving-equipment/70515-oceanic-geo-vs-suunto-d3.html

I have used both the Geo and D4 and I really prefer the D4 as it is much more intuitive and easier to use. You push a lot less buttons than the Geo. However, the D4's battery isn't user replaceable and the Geo does pretty much cover all the basics for freediving as long as you don't mind pushing some extra buttons.

I prefer suunto every time.

Someone told me they replaced their own D4 battery though. Ill let you know if it stays dry

Also it turns out that you can see the freedive you are doing when you are doing it, which is useless, and you can see the dive after the dive but once you do another dive it logs it into the internal memory and you can't access it without a $100 cable.

Rip off

Suunto you have access to a lot of the information from the dives.

Worth considering if price is an issue

yap thanks a lot mate, there is any site with information regarding an alternative for the cable of suunto and software?

saving 100$ sounds delicous

I can get enough info from the D4 to not need to attach it to a PC. There will be someone somewhere doing the leads though, I got the D3 software free from the web. Not looked into the D4 software yet but its probably available. Ill have a look soon.

You even get a graphical representation of your dive and one second sampling so you can check when you are freefalling / how fast etc from the normal memory function.

I bought this: [ame="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-PC-Interface-SUUNTO-D4-D6-und-D9_W0QQitemZ380169998762QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5883e5d1aa"]USB PC-Interface SUUNTO D4, D6 und D9 on eBay (end time 27-Oct-09 18:01:23 GMT)[/ame]
and this: [ame="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Battery-Kit-For-Suunto-D4-Dive-Computer-NEW_W0QQitemZ350270580140QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518dc0e5ac"]Battery Kit For Suunto D4 Dive Computer, NEW! on eBay (end time 26-Nov-09 07:03:43 GMT)[/ame]

For Suunto DiveComputers software is free, for D4 = DM_Setup_2.6.0.193.exe

thx guys I'm looking foward to make my own cable (this is if I would bought the d4 wich seems not probable since I'm going to the red sea for that money i prefer staying a week more there)

One thing to look out for: make sure that you have the FREE mode on before making any dives. If you don't you are stuck in gauge mode for 24 hours, I want to say this is a basic scuba mode. I have done this twice, once by mistake and second thinking I was in the correct mode. It shows one dive for a day of dives. Overall its good for basic freediving but the cable comes in to play again. I'm selling mine and getting the F.10 but I only freedive.

Does anyone know about instructions for homemade cable and software for Geo/F.10, $100 is just nutts.
