Just want to add that the carp taste awesome...Better then the carp from Lake Mendota....It could be because of the smaller size but I think because it is different ...This one got a white meat(red meat)(wild carp) in Lake Mendota...This one is more like the classic european carp..I am interested of Kevincook's opinion

Looks like you guys had fun. I'd be interested in hearing about how you prepare the carp. It's my experience that the size you guys are holding is the best size for eating. They sure look a lot nicer than the big ones.

Yes, is the best size for eating. ~ 2kg (4lb). Smoler-disturb bones, bigger-taste worse. If I eat carp just once a month, I always fry. It simple and amazing. Piece thickness ~ 1 in. A little salt, spices, flour, fry oil and made a golden crispy surface. Overall good carp is good in many a recipe. I believe Kalin know few of them.

Hi Ted,
Carp in Bulgaria(like rest of Europe) is very high prized fish..We even have a holiday for it..Everyone is consuming carp on December 6th...It is like turkey on Thanksgiven day here in US..December 6th is Saint Nicolas day in Bulgaria(Nikulgen)..There is special recipe for Nikulden's carp..It is oven baked filled with walnuts and onion.. Tomatoes outside the fish..And some sliced lemons on the top... Delicious

It is funny how people in US don't like carp for food..It is same in Bulgaria for bluegill...No one in Bulgaria will eat bluegill..It is a BIG shame if you ever try to eat bluegill...Eating bluegill means you are so poor you can not buy another fish(or catch)

That "Holiday Carp" recipe sounds wonderful, Kalin. I know that the carp is prized in Europe. It's no wonder they go nuts when they see the "Yanks" slaughter them, and throw them in the garden on youtube. The bighead carp - the one notorious for its leaping - is an out-of-control nuissance on the Mississippi River basin. Yet, it's been extirpated in many of its native Chinese waters. They hammer them over there with nets, as they are a prized food fish.

If you guys know any tricks re: cleaning carp, I'd appreciate a tutorial.

Nothing special on carp cleaning...remove the scales or better take the skin off and cut out the brown meat....this meat is very fat and smell bad

Couldn't sit at home in so good weather. This time visited Golden Lake alone.
The water temperature is 50 degrees. Fish disappeared. Saw one carp but it was faster. Also few pikes sit on the bottom. Mood is perfect.

Golden Lake again todaiy.
2 hours in the water and nothing...and then on my way out in 5-6 feet I saw the biggest freaking fish I've ever seen under water in my life....it was the size of VW Golf...I am kidding , but it was huge....3-4 feet long and 1 to 1 1/2 wide..And it is still there

stergeon or musky?? Biggest stergeon ive ever seen brushed up against us on the river and I felt it might have gone 12 ft. ive been present a number of times when someone in my fishing group got them in the 4- 5ft+ range. they are amazing. and muskys in the 4ft+ range are my favorite to attempt to get videos(afew of which ive posted on youtube). all minnesota fish.

One more good day underwater. Many news about Golden Lake. Each next
weekend wt falls two degrees.
Tried to see what is becoming deeper waters. Flat bottom. Saw nice gar but nothing more. When get back to shalow grass ( 12ft) saw nice carp but just one and it disappeared in seconds.
After we get out of the water I put my gloves on top of the car...and never took it out... :head It was perfect 5mm gloves, I just bought it a day ago and paid $60 :waterwork

Vladas, you did it again ah?

The fish was buffalo or carp..but I am not sure...And it was not the length that caught my eyes but how fat it was.. I follow it for 10 seconds and it was looking like a torpedo.
popolarbair , very nice videos..Thanks for the link.
