I'm looking to dive on the 25th. Either Line dives or spearfishing, depending on who want to do what. The 26th is a 10K run in Chicago I might get conned into doing!

So what do you guys have to say? That is a week from Sat. Even a trip to Haigh Quarry works for me.

What say ye!?

are you thinking of coming up here or were ya going if around here i could go

Haigh Quarry is 2 hours from me and there is no spearing there. It would be just diving. Otherwise Lake Geneva and spearfishing is what I'm thinking.

i think Lake Geneva sounds good if you guys want too meet up there and if you guys want to do some line dives then we could set that up as well but its all up to you guys

Kalinux PM'd me and asked about weather. On the 10 day forecast they call for rain leading into and through the weekend. I don't mind rain as long as the vis is still good and there is no lightning.

WreckRunner would prefer Line dives and wondered about renting a pontoon boat to get out to deep water.

Scott, what do you think?

how much is a pontoon? I don't care if we do lines or spear - it gets me in the water :)

Need to mention this to Nostres too if we do lines. Jeremy will be out of touch (with reality) for the weekend as he heads up to the Dells. He's the one that mentioned the pontoon and I'm not sure where from. He'll have to inform us of that. Otherwise, it's a shore dive with spearing equipment in hand.

Looking at the forecast, it says light showers, so I don't think lightning will be in the mix. Hopefully rain won't even be a factor!

Hopefully my open cell boots and gloves are here early next week.

Well, the weather watch will be on this week. Scott, where do you think we should meet and enter? We should contact Khel to. Kalinux looks to be in, so Scott if you can bring your extra suit for him to try. I can bring a scuba suit, so if he is wearing a 3mm he can layer a 5mm scuba suit over top.

What time? 9:00? Waiting to hear from Wreckrunner on th pontoon boat. I'm not sure if this is a feasable option, but diving from a boat is better imo, it gives us more options. Maybe a gas grill too for lunch??

Anyone else with any thoughts or ideas? What about Tass, is he available? Nostres, are you listening, you coming!?

i wont be going so i can send my 5 or 3 mil with scott for him to use let me know i get it out and ready for him to pick up

Tass said he's a "possible" - I sent a PM to khel (no response), There are a couple spots we could goto if we don't have the pontoon- that wouldn't be a long swim to get to deep water. 9am sounds good

Kalin - dotey isn't going- you can use his 5mil if you want to get in the water- will keep you warm.

Ok, I'm back.....the Dells kicked ass. It was like a surreal hybrid of a Mcdonald's playground and a fraternity party. I have come to appreciate Wisconsin in soooo many ways. I stopped in Madison on the way back and got a bunch of goodies.....

Geneva boat rentals are insanely expensive. They were not even that bad in Key Largo. There HAS to be a charter service that would be ok taking us into that 180ft. spot and fending off boat traffic. The only other option I have is my tiny ski boat, but I can barely get 3 people in it, and I am convinced that the engine has a terminal disease of some sort.

hopefully by next summer I'll be able to just buy a decent pontoon boat.....

I'll do some investigative work today and see if I can find another option for a boat.

The lake bottoms out at 141'- not 180'.:head

I talked to my friend, Jitka, and she says she would be up for bringing her charter boat over there- as soon as she gets a truck to haul it. She is in the process of buying one, but hasn't gotten it yet. Not sure what her "freediver" rate would be just yet, but she would take us anywhere we want- and she's a pretty decent freediver in her own rite. Shipwreck Explorers

Saturday is out for me, too much family stuff going on, but I might be able to make Sunday. I could drag along the kayak and counter ballast system for line dives- if we can find water to swim out into that's deep enough.

Jon

Sunday is a 10k run that I have not committed to yet, but Jeremy has. Scott has to work.

I got a spike stringer today and a new OMER Aries 39 mask. It's just like the Alien but with a taller lens. It should have a better look down ability. I really got it for scuba though, to see my pressure gauge easier.

I got a small spike stringer that clips on one end and the spike is on the other, both ends have parts that go on the belt. I think Whopperhead has one similar, with a small clip on the one end. I figure I'll keep pan fish on it and run the carp on the speed stringer.

Basically more kit to play with and try to see if I like it.
