Oil pollution hits Med. in Lebanon

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yeah it is too bad. 15 years back, Israel dropped barrels filled with hazardous chemicals across the Lebanese coast. It took us 2 years to swim in the sea, and for the marin life to recover.

So what is happening today, happened and will happen in the future.

Regards

Rabih

I am not pointing any fingers because others have at various times done similar things. Seems like it is in everybody's long term interest to preserve the environment, and fossil fuel stocks/energy.

Appreciate that... but keep the politics to other forums and lets keep this to diving/environment related discussions.. shall we? :)

certainly gentlemen...:t As scuba divers, how much weights u need to dive in diesel waters?:vangry

yes! i dive the east coast (Fujairah) all the time and there are always oil slicks... not due to the Israelis though! Due to oil tankers bilging out at sea because they wont pay the price to have it done in port :vangry

We recieved reports that due to the warm water curents we may get the slick hitting our preservation area on the tip of the island (Cyprus) where the green turtles and Carreta's are hatching now. plus there is a japanese "sushi" Tuna Farm out there floating about so they must be in a big panic (3,000.00 pounds per fish) i'm going up there tonight for some early morning Spearing so will find out more from the Marine bio's on Turtle Project.

I think that's human nature & the nature of business:(. Incentives & disincentives. The government tax tipping of building waste heavily here, so people just started "fly tipping" in laybys & previously unspoilt country lanes:rcard.
