Just took the pic of a couple, circa 1975(?) RYAN dive boards. Does anybody use these suckers anymore??
I know the hot trend is kayaks....but I have a few old timers telling me im really missing out by not using the 19ft long dinosaurs. They are about 50lbs, all fiberglass with a HUGE storage/waterproof compartment mid board.
Let me know what you guys think, or if I should just stick with working with my Yak.

Nick

Holly cow!!! That is a MONSTER!!! Whats your HR look like after taking that tank out to sea?

I took it out briefly, but it is surprising efficient. Its shaped sleeker than a typical ocean kayak so it slices through the water beautifully, but its going to take some getting used to. You kneel and use your hands in unison, or paddle it like a surfboard. I was assured that if you are in shape you can paddle the thing for miles-

P.S. As far as heartrate goes...friggin HIGH

Next time try using a frog kick while prone on the board, to give the arms a little rest. There were a few guys that could get some speed with a butterfly plus a frog kick. The kneeling position just burns up energy.
Thirty years ago or so, Lighthall made one for me and it weighs under 40 pounds. Sure would be fun to take it back and dive Leo Carillo again. Heck they're probably so scarce now that I could sell it for enough to pay the shipping.
Thanks for the memories.
Aloha
Bill
