So the first shot here is a close representation of the actual scene with natural light. I purposefully wanted something about the same darkness as the average underwater scene I am shooting.

The second shot is with the darkest settings I can achieve while using the flash by adjusting ISO, aperature, and shutter speed. Hopefully you can see the results is not desirable.

And finally after my tape modification, here is the resulting prefered picture. I intend to make a unit that I can attatch to my underwater housing that allows me to adjust a door that will limit how much of the flash is exposed.
