I'm currently based in Muscat, Oman. Are there any other freedivers around that dive/train on a regular basis here? I'm looking for some training buddies!
For reference, there are some excellent spots here in Muscat to practise the depth events - lots of little bays and coves with sheltered water down to 5m, 10m, 20m etc to work on equalising, mouthfill, FRC, finning technique etc. I've been here for about a month, and the viz has been good - from about 8m, to 15m on the better days. Although I think it might get worse in our winter season. There is warm water on the surface, but there has often been thermocline from 5m down - colder water that requires a thin wetsuit. Quite a few small motorboats around so its best to dive with a highly visible bouy even if you're going just a few metres offshore. (Might be better to find a quieter spot).
I think their might be some deeper water soffshore - down to 40m, 50m, 60m, 70m etc.
