I see this little beauty is available with off-the-shelf lenses. I have a cressi matrix with bonded lenses, but am thinking of picking up a backup mask - perhaps with a tad lower volume. Hows the field of vision on the bandit? I like the Omer stuff.

I don't know about the Bandit, but it's really good on the Alien- which is now my main mask for almost everything.

The only problem I've found with the OMER masks is that I need to switch out the mask straps for something a bit less flimsy. :hmm

Jon

I am using alien too and its great so far. In real, bandit has same internal volume compared to alien but alien has much wider field of vision so why bother with bandit instead of buying alien?

Actually I recently bought an Alien, stupidly untried from the internet, gave it a go because both the missus and me wanted a new mask and we thought it would fit one of us at least, so yeah it arrived and it fits both of us like a gelf. Havent used it in the sea yet, too busy here at the present eating curry. Anyway I just wanted to say what an amazing little mask it is fitting 2 very different mugs. Now all I need is a snorkel I can fit a ciggie into the end of.

I too have an alien It's peripheral vision suffers badly compaired to the cressi matrix - but I agree it's a great mask. (my cressi has bonded lenses, so volume is quite low). I keep the alien for emergencies and as a loaner becuase it does fit pretty much anybody.
The reason for considering the bandit is it comes with off-the-shelf scrip lenses and I thought it would make a nice, less expensive, spare.

if OMER make bandit that way they probably does alien too.

What you mean by saying peripheral vision suffers badly? If you think like that you should certainly not to try bandit since it has very little field of vision in every direction. My alien has a field of vision almost as wide as technisub look which has many times more internal volume than alien, and tecnisub luna which i thought was low volume need AT LEAST two times equalizing until the depth 22-25 meters. I tried alien up to 18 meters since i only used it twice and need no equalization at all, i mean almost none only very little air that escaped from my nose when finishing of the ear equalization.

For some reason the alien doesn't come with corrective lenses.
Thanks for your comments on the bandit and luna - very useful!

Fondueset,

Why dont you check out this place: http://www.dive-sight.com/index.html

They are in Milwaukee and I have had many Rx masks, and even glasses, made by them over the years- before I had Lasik surgery.

They can make bonded lenses or cut blanks which will fit your mask exactly. They do bifocals and trifocals if you need them to and are an exact match to your prescription, and not just a standard blank that the dive comapnies supply.

Jon

I called this place - they are very nice! Not sure if I want to fun another prescription mask just now but if I do I'll likely give them a try.

thanks
