Hey im to deeperblue and having a problem with my new omer cayman aluminum. Ive been diving for about 4 months and ive been using a crap gun that work for just getting my feet wet. now i got a new cayman and i cant load the band it an 18mm and idk why or how. the butt is way!! smaller than the butt of my first gun can enyone help me? :?

How long is the gun? Do you hip load or chest load? If you hip load have you tried chest loading? If you can reach the band you have a bit more leverage. Also, I dont know if your trying to load it "dry" and having problems but it is way easier in the water. If your having trouble because of the small pad put an extra piece of neoprene or a rubber slipper in your suit, it will make it much easier to load!

good luck, let us know how it goes.

Chest loading a cayman is the best way and becomes very easy, if your trying to hip load it you will struggle.

to chest load take your dominent hand and grab one side of the rubber, then place the other hand on the but of the gun.

then push the handle up onto your chest (on your chest bone) this will pu some tention on the rubber held by your dominent hand.

then stretch up with your weaker hand and grab the other side of the rubber.

now pull backusing both hands to the first notch. you will find that you can use your back and lats to help.

then reposition the gun if need be and load on to mthe second notch.

that should work for you.

i'll bet you are trying to pull the bands back out of the water? its 50% easier in.

I'm pretty scrawny and have exactly the same gun and bands, and I can load it fine as it comes, no special pads..

I use my cayman carbon 100 with a single 20mm band 66cm long inserted in the last hole of the muzzle. This is the the same length I used on my RA100 and strangely its even tougher to load omer than the RA (RA has no loading pad).
This is the first gun I have to load the band on the first notch and then load it on the last. I think the Omer loading pad is too small.

The trigger sear on the Cayman appears to be a few inches further back than most spearguns. I'd expect it to be a little harder to load - more stretch, more power & you'll need to pull it closer into your chest (although perhaps not closer than butt-less guns like the RA?). You could try sticking an old flip-flop sole inside your wet suit, behind your loading pad (if your wettie has one).

I only have a 90cm Cayman and I've changed out my bands to a tied in Dyneema. But on the original bands I could not get the bands into the second notch the first day of diving. I think it was the second or third day of diving the bands had loosened up a little and it became easier to get the full pull.

I don't know how long you have had your Cayman either. I did see in another thread you mentioned the shooting line holding the spear to much when shot or something and your shots would be off. I have my 90 set as open muzzle and I am getting to where I can snap shot it now. Not looking down the shaft, but holding it low or off to the side and hitting a fish in the head or gills. And I'm not a great spearo by a long shot (or a short one).

Good luck with the gun.
