I am looking for reviews on the Omer cayman et.

Has anyone used the gun or know if there are any reviews online?

Second that, I'm also considering one at the moment but no feedback on here yet as far as I can see.

I currently use a Omer hf 130 its nice shoots quiet and acurate it comes with weights so you can adjust the bouncy to meet your needs and can be used in open or closed muzzle modes.

I havent Used ET yet, but can you imagine using ET when your shaft is slightly bent? I think it will scratch the inside of the "track"... But thats just a guess.

A speargun with a enclosed track is made for accuracy, if you have a bent shaft or even slightly bent, that accuracy is compromised with or without the ET
This is a very specific gun, made for long shots, and the benefits of the ET should be felt over 100cm gun's.
I am also looking for reviews. I own a Cayman HF Camu and i'm considering getting two more guns a 95 HF and a 115>130 ET .

I have had a ET gun for a month now after moving from compressed air guns. Its a great gun, having the spear enclosed makes it very accurate at distance shots. Having the bands semi enclosed in the sides also stops drag when moving through water. The gun needs to be cared for and if you have bent/damaged spears it would damage the track. I do have small marks on the top edge of the track already but it is minor at this time.

What type of special care is necessary for this gun?

And how is the recoil on them, if any?

Have not quite finished a review but I have finished my gallery of the Omer Cayman ET 115.

Ron, what's your take on the tabbed spears? There has been a defective batch of them, with the sharkfin tabs tending to tear off under bands tension. Now Omer says it's fixed, as the new batches have stronger "tigs".
Anyway, since I want to buy myself one of them shafts, I'm open to hear opinions...

Spag, I had one of these shafts and after about 2 weeks of heavy shooting(3-4 days a week) these tabs started to fall off. 2 in the same day. + the hole for the barb is much smaller than on other shafts = not every spare barb will fit in.

Indeed there have been many claims about accidents of this kind. I really hope Omer has fixed it.
Even because, I don't know who else other than Omer offers shafts with high tabs for enclosed track, and I need one cause I have a custom et gun on order.....

Any other brand suggestions in Europe for high tab shafts?

Beuchat make a spear with sharkfin or tabed spears in almost the same diameter and theirs are welded on. They use them on their revolution guns. I also know some guys use riffe shafts in euro triggers, which also have the tabs welded on and they are very strong but not cheap. They also are very similar in diameter.

The Cayman ET that I have here I can see some kind of glue where the tab goes in the spear. I always have my concerns about mixing metals that are making contact in a salt water enviroment. The tabs look more like some kind of aluminium alloy.
Not good to hear about the tabs falling out though.

I actually bought a omer 115 spear, it looks great but, in fact the tabs are quite short & only just work in an enclosed track!
I must say I am surprised the tabs come loose though :duh
I prefer to use 3mm braid for wishbones but I had to use 1.5mm for the spear to work in the track.

omer makes alot of great stuff, but their shafts are not too good. they are very soft, and not tempered. maybe for euro guns IN europe, they make sense. but if you are shooting fish over 10 lbs, you can expect to bend it.
i have been going around and around trying to determine the best shafts.
daryl wong has shafts that are reasonably priced, but he changed his to those rusty spring steel ones,(likesouth african shafts\ coated with something thats lasts about 3 dive days , then rubs off and the whole spear turns super rusty.
i will only use riffe shafts anymore. i get them for about 50$ here in key west from my buddy who owns finz dive center. its just not worth trying to save a few $, if im going to get stuck with a bent shaft.

also, foxfish, it sounds like you may have bought a spear with mini shafkfins, instead of the larger ones? the mini ones never work very well in et guns.
i find that the mono loop going thru the shark fin tends to rub its way down the track while you shoot, since it isnt high enough to clear.

I don't own one (yet), but was also planning on swapping out the metal wishbones with just the braided cords.

If the shaft is as weak as some of the claims have been, maybe swapping it with a Riffe finned shaft may be part of the answer?

water come into barrel after use at depth.
sorry my english is bad.,, im from indonesian. i own et and used for many times.

Are you saying that water leaks into the barrel?

So does the barrel sink to the ground after the shaft exits the gun?

Please explain...

yeah, water leaks into the barrel but just in front of the barrel at the muzzle, the barrel still float without shaft .., actually the barrel come with seal but the muzzle have space (in indonesian said "rongga") so water may leak into it.
its become very heavy when aiming its make hand so tired to hold it.
now my ET gun is in repairing.. sorry guy my english is very2 bad.
hope u understand what i mean.
can u tell me how to upload the pict??, maybe with some pict u will more understand. thankzzzzzz...

Well it does not sound good, the et should be pretty light in the water even with the orginal spear fitted. Is there any weights left in the muzzle? If it is leaking I would get it back to your supplier while it's still under warranty.
