Does anyone know this gun? A friend just gave it to me,needs a shaft, new bands and possibly a line release?? which I cant find. Anybody know about this one? Looks like it needs a 6.5 mm shaft but not sure. Here are some pics.

I think the line release is just a line clip right in fron of the trigger guard, but I very well could be mistaken. The shaft is probably an OMER notched shaft. Take it to Scubas World, Austins or Florida Freedivers and they can help you find one that works. (I just mention those three because I have visited them in person and they're all good people imo) The bands look like the standard OMER screw in bands.

Good luck.

Thanks ILDiver, I dont see the line release anywhere on the gun,Maybe it pops out when the shaft is inserted.I tried loading a 6.5 mm shaft in I but it doesn't hold it. Anyone has any experience with this gun?
Thanks

i expect the line release to be like the seatec gabbiano. made also by valerio grassi after he sold omer...and it looks very similar to the one in the pics...the gabbiano release is not like any of the current models you sea for omer..but boy is it simple and effective ..i love it :) as for the shaft, since you have 2 bands on the gun go for a 7mm shaft...if you use only one band (even if its 20mm) you can use a 6.35 -6.75mm spears depending on what youre going after...
best of luck...

Thanks Marwan,

Maybe I am missing something here but I loaded a 7mm shaft from my Rabitech and still no line release?? Seems like the shaft holds ,fires just fine when press trigger.Do I need an Omer shaft or any rob allen shaft will do? Im certainly not used to this kind of gun.
Thanks

No, sorry, the line release will not pop out in any case, cause there is no such thing on the gun. I've had it a long time ago (my God, must be 15 years ago) and I can congratulate with you cause it's a very accurate, sturdy gun. In Europe it's a legend, believe me, a legend. But no line release other than crocodile mouth clip under the handle.
You can get a Marc Valentin style or Seatec style line holder and attach it to your gun quite easily: it works! Watch that shiny metal thingy at the junction between handle and barrel in these two pics:

you can DYI curving and drilling a piece of metal, or buy it online§

The line is held by the clip just in front of the trigger on the bottom of the barrel.

Try an OMER or a Riffe spear.

Thank you guys .will attach a line release.hopefully guns performs well,if it does I'm gonna try a camo paint job.
Thanks

Well guys, just rigged the "new" old gun.Had to replace the muzzle,it was crystallized inside and cracked, put an older omer muzzle which looks pretty good I think. Also new Omer shaft 6.5 mm with one 16mm band and 200 lbs mono. Gotta tell you so far I'm loving that line release clip. Now the only concern is the gun being "underpower" with just one band. If I put two it might be too much with the 6.5 mm shaft. What do you think about this set up? Thanks for the help.

A single 18mm or even 20mm would have been better prolly. But you could put a second circular band on it, like a 14mm or another 16mm. Start with a band that is a little long and see where the power is, then cut it down a little at a time. You could tie it with a dyneema wishbone that will allow you to take it off if you want less power around a reef os wreck. Just a thought.
