omer millenium ice

Re: omer millennium ice

I used to have a pair of Picasso Black teams and I would say that the ICE fins are softer, and certainly smoother, in the water.

I got a pair of the ICE fins about two months ago and they have, quickly, become my favorite fins- even more so than my C4-30's. I can swim all day and I don't worry about breaking them, like I do with carbon. The camo part is cool, but i just really like how the fin feels on my foot.

The one thing I noticed about my Black Teams was how much softer they were down in warm water and how much they stiffened up when diving around here- in 4C degree water. I am not sure how much this will effect the ICE fins yet because the water is still warm. I have noticed NO difference in stiffness with the carbon fins- even under the ice.

Hey Jon,

I've noticed not diff with the ice fins in winter. I wasn't really looking but they seem about the same. I know they don't snap when peeled off the frozen bed of a pickup.

Same with me - I did not get them because they look good, but because they feel good and are not tiring at all.

Niaid, you're not Polish are you? (A colleague mention they often have carp for Christmas dinner, which they keep live in the bath to ensure freshness!).

Nooooo! Carp are one of my favourite fish! They are cute and make slurping noises. rofl

The pale pink fish in the pictures must be very happy - he is the only male in my goldfish collection, so he has 5 females to choose from. :chatup

He looks happy enough with the one in the pictures - they are inseparable. I am doing pond maintenance work again, and the two came out of the same pond, the red one about two weeks ago, and the pink one today. Usually when I put a new fish in, they ignore each other or chase the new one, but these two seemed to recognise each other and started swimming side by side immediately.

For some reason the carp don't seem to like me as much as Chris?

Then they will never tell you their secrets.

I've been having a blast getting really close to these guys with the monofin. Today I was swimming along the pipeline - the pipes are about 3 feet across - so I was swimming low along one and spotted a carp ahead swimming just above the pipe away from me. I stayed low an moved up next to it as it went down on the other side of the pipe. I swam along just high enough to keep it's back in sight. It spotted me but I was moving slowly so it barely spooked - just put on a little speed then came back it within about 8 inches of my mask.

Some REALLY HUGE ones around lately - this and the first two above are from yesterday

Since the time of this writing, FUZZ - aka Harold got 2nd at US Nationals this year, did anyone tell you congratulations on this forum yet? Otherwise let me just say pretty work Harold....

Congrats Fuzz!

FYI-I was just looking, almost nostalgically at my well-worn ice fins. They've got some serious mileage on them. They remain pretty transparent but I doubt very much theres any glint coming off them any more. The zebra mussels have given them a flat finish

While we're on the subject - I've got some 44-46 millenium runners for sale.

FYI there have been at least 2 posts on the South Devon thread recently re. Ice fins breaking. In one case the side as well as the blade broke. In one case the local supplier (Venture Sports, Paignton?) fixed it for the person while they shopped. The other was bought abroad (Portugal) and the shop only referred them to their supplier, which I find unacceptable (and which I am pretty sure is against current EU legislation re. the responsibility of retailers - although even large UK retailers like Tesco still appear to routinely flout EU consumer laws:naughty:rcard - seems like we only ever see the downside of the EU and never the upside in the UK).

Mine are still in one piece (a whole pair ) but I did get a little paranoid last week when I was with Spaniard kicking like a demon in a strong tide & a 4' swell! (we made it though :martial)

I've actually pealed mine off the bed of a pickup truck - frozen solid with little ice crystal patterns all over them then taken them diving in 2C water and -7c air. Of course the 3 year warranty takes the load off a bit.
My guess is the breakages are a result of some problem in the curing process or something with the polymer - that and there are just a lot of them about.

I do like my Ice fins, but now that i've been using the 'posh' pegasso's i'm going to stick with them, so if anyone wants a pair of size 44-46 Ice fins going cheap just send me a pm...

I think this will tend to happen to people on the heavier side and/or with strong powerful legs...I have seen Ihab break 2 pairs of ice fins which i found astonishing...I still have my old pair intact..but his legs/fin stroke are much more powerful than mine...
