hiya

i`ve got an omer tempest 70cm airgun. I just keep it on my float as a spare in case my elastic gun fails, or will use it in very bad vis.

Its fairly new but i`ve noticed it tends to go off by itself...
anyone else experienced this? or suggest a fix that doesnt involve sending it all the way to spain or whereever.

Also as the spear that comes with the gun is fairly heavy and only goes acouple of feet with any power/ accuaracy i wondered about cutting down and modifying a ordinary spear from a euro gun. Idea being that its alot thinner and lighter so will go further.

Anyone tried that?

cheers

A thinner spear is easy to bend when loading........
Also I don't think you'd get any extra range. The spear will be too light to have any real momentum.
It sounds like something is sticking in the trigger mechanism. Try soaking the gun in warm water overnight, then working the trigger to remove salt deposits

thanks dave i`ll give that a try

where in cornwall are you? and do you fish the winter much?

north coast, near Wadebridge, although I dive all over. Haven't been in the water for months, it looks like brown paint at the moment. I'll probably start getting in again in April, when the big pollack appear
cheers
