Me I rest my case: for shorter guns like the 80 you're looking for, all these discussions about extra power are pointless, IMHO. I use my Gabbiano 77 with 16mm single, my C4 100 with single 19mm and my Snake 120 with double 16mm. That's the way they work fine for me...

Thanks for the advice---as usual I am learning from your experience.
It is interesting to hear about different set-ups that people use with the Snake (across different hunting environments/fish).

Most of the time I am diving in fairly murky water, around rocks and chasing small/medium fish, so extra power isn't a major issue. The top 2 priorities for my new gun purchase are accuracy and ruggedness, which I believe the Snake to have. It sounds like much of the time I will be happy with a single band when chasing small fish; however, when the opportunity to hunt up North (for bigger fish) arises then adding a second rubber will be sweet.

Hello Wise DB Spearos,


I have a couple questions about my order. All advice is welcome:


1 - Does the Snake come rigged? (i.e., shooting line and reel line?)

2 - Does the Snake come with a muzzle bungee?

3 - What would be a good strength/diameter of mono as a standard set up? what crimp-sleeves fit? (for small/med fish)

for example - are these ok:
[Monofilo nylon trasparente del 140 al mt] +
[Anellini 2 FORI 10 Pz 120/160 Omer]

4 - Italian question: what is "cognom"? (i.e., last name or first name?)
Answered my own question: "Cognom" refers to last name in Italian.Google Translate rocks: First name and last name.--> Nome e cognome.

5 - Anyone used bank transfer to pay? Is it expensive (the surcharges) from North America to an Italian online gear merchant?
