Hi Matt,

Keep watching the Florida Freedivers thread. When Blue Springs opens back up in the spring, you will see a lot of divers headed there. Its a fun place.

I do enjoy diving blue spring,it's about the only place close to home I have to go.I do have a spring fed lake about 5 miles from me I go to sometimes when I really need to go it has depth to about 34 feet but I always end up going alone.I really want to dedicate more time this year to freediving/spearfishing has I can between work and kids.So I will pretty much dive anywhere I can.I would settle for shooting some sheepshead some where if I could.Im thinking about trying bradenton area next when I have time.I know theres beach dives at vero beach but it's so hard to get decent vis over there(at least when I go).

If you can come as far as Bradenton, Sarasota is just down the road. New Pass bridge is a hot spot for fish, not sure if spearing is allowed. If you have boat (kayak) Big Pass has some good spots along its southern shore, hogs, sheephead, flounder, etc. If you are in the area, give me a shout.

Lake Denton is a decent place if you can't get to the ocean or viz is bad. It's in Avon Park and has a max depth of 52 feet although the neat stuff (3 sunken boats) are in 35-40 feet. It's in Avon Park, about 1.5 hrs south of Orlando. It's not the best, viz is probably 20 feet, but it's fun to do every so often.

The public boat ramp was recently closed because the locals were trashing the place, but you can pay $5 a head to the Baptist camp there and they will let you park and you can swim from there (the lake is not very large).

Home Phillip is the guy you want to get in touch with.

did you find a spearfishing buddy yet?? i'm coming down there in 3 weeks...if you find some good info (go to some local dive shops and get the skinny on where, when, and the local warnings), i'll bring all my gear and we can dive!

Hey I'm over in Polk, fairly young, I warn you, 17. But I've working on my breath holding as part of training for the Navy. Wouldn't mind doing something fun with it, I could use a buddy to train with too.
