since 3 weeks I m using a new suit in static training.
now it is easier to pack much air in my lungs. this is so easy, but I have a lot of new experiences:
1.) I can not hold the air without pain in my trachea
2.) one time I have sput out blood (micro)
3.) and I mean I'm more sensitive. If I dive empty lungs or deepdives it is easier to hurt me :-(

One week ago I did a maximum dyn nofins after a long while. It was horrible.
Yesterday I checked this again and I was really surprised. The cause was the buoyancy. Before I need 4 kg neckweight for a good balance (without suit). Now I need 5,5kg!!! I can' t beliefe that...

Is it possible?

My question is: How many kilo neckweight you need for a perfect buoyancy in the pool?

In the pool I am using neckweights (or other weigths):

6.5 kg with full packing without a suit!

Without packing about 3.5 kg, so it does make a huge difference for me.

In the pool, for dynamic, if I pack to the max, I need:
- 5-6kg with no suit
- > 7.7kg with 3mm suit

The wetsuit screws you up in many ways, the most surprising of which is equalizing during deep dives. Without the suit I can do a max mouthfill at a MUCH deeper depth!

Also, breathing during my breathe-up takes much less energy without the suit.

...he eric, do that in my lake rofl I'm diving deep without gloves now. this is hard enough in the f.......g 4°c cold water after -6m.

the other question: Have you ever spitting blood after a static or a dynamic? (because packing)

greetings wolle

Yes, it's not too unusual for me to spit a little (very little) blood after packing for static and/or dynamic. Hard to describe without a photo (which i'm not going to do). But here goes - I usually cough it up in my phlegm, and the amount of blood at most would cover a small fingernail. I usually cough it up between 10 minutes and up to 12 hours later. Overall I would probably cough up some blood about 5-10 times over the course of the next few hours after the static/dynamic. It's never bright coloured, usually a bit darker, and it's in the phlegm itself, not freeflowing blood.

It's really not that much, and I stress that it doesn't happen all the time. I get the impression that it is trachea/throat related and not originating from the lungs, though I don't have anything to back that up, only the anecdotal evidence that my throat feels like it's under lots of pressure when I pack.

I've never spat blood from dynamic/static with no packing.

Cheers,
Ben

I would like to move this discussion in a new thread (?)

I use two 0.6kg ankle weights to make a neckweight, so 1.2kg altogether. I don't normally pack for dynamic.

Do you use these in the local pool? If so, did you inform the lifeguards?

I use them in freediving pool sessions, not during public swimming sessions. The lifeguards know what we are doing, but we mostly supervise each other.

Ah, that makes sense. I have thought that if I could lose 7 pounds of fat and gain 7 pounds of muscle that would cut down on my annoying buoyancy. Easier said than done, though :)
