Hi all. Being pretty new to the whole freediving scene (although have been breath-hold diving all my life), I am interested in learning some techniques and doing some longer and deeper dives. I've been trying some of the packing techniques suggested in these forums, but I have a problem. Generally, when I do a dive (just recreational mind you - not going for big times or depths) I take a deep breath, but don't fill my lungs to 100% capacity; only to around 60%, as I find that if I really pull hard to get more air in, my lungs feel constricted and then I can't hold my breath as long. I have the same feeling when I try packing. So how can I avoid this constricted feeling in my chest?
All the best,
Tom Arnold.
