As a graduate accountant one of my first clients was the Department of Corrective Services. One week they sent us to a prison in Sydney which was the most sophisicated and secure prison in the southern hemisphere - reminded me of a hospital, very clinical/sterile. I had to visit a maximum security section and after a good half hour of getting sniffer dogged, biometric fingerprinted and walked through these videoed corridors, a door opens and we arrive in the max security bit in the centre of the prison, where there were ocean scenes painted on the walls, a heritage building in the middle surrounded by lovely gardens, and peacocks roaming around. Bizarre!

And I thought California prisons were plush...
Ok, here's one. While studying criminal justice, I took a field trip to a nearby women's prison. The common yard was beautifully landscaped with rosebushes and a manicured lawn, and prison guards rode three-wheeled bikes around at a leisurely pace. The inmates were not separated according to the severity of their crimes, and they shared bunk beds in pods (rooms) of about 8 women each. The whole thing had the feel of a summer camp.

In the future prisons everyone will have a segway!

That would be hilarious if someone tried to escape! Just imagine the fleeing felon and the Segway in hot pursuit rofl.

Three Words: That's Japan. It's the coolest place ever! I've been there twice and each time I went there I saw something wacky. Personally I think Condomania is a great store in Tokyo! Uh.....it's a store with 4-5 stories of ever type of comdom and sex toy. If you're feelin' freaky, then I'd check it out.
