Picasso Centuary Twin ("double barrel" speargun)

Anybody out there own one of these unusual spearguns? If so, what do you think of it? Whenever I see large Bass, they are either swimming in pairs or there is a second Bass nearby. I guess it might also be useful if you encounter shark (e.g. SA tuna spearos). Is the double rigging kept neat and manageable?

As far as i know , it is designed by pepe just to hunt sea bass, sometimes you can't shoot a sea bass and you miss it sea bass stop on your spear and just laugh at you, second one is to shoot again to sea bass
My idea maybe very dangerous for other fishes, maybe you hunt a fish in a crack , when you try to take it out, you forget the gun, not the gun but a spear loaded gun, just my idea , what happens i dont know

I have that gun and it dosen't shoot straight so I had to put a shaft guide on it and now it shoots perfect. I use it in shallow water without the strings, just have to make sure to hit the fish in the head so it is dead. I redesigned the string that goes through the spear to the back as it gets cut off and is stupid design. I put a sliding ring on it instead. It works great now.

Baubaugene, could you post a pic of the mods you made to the Twin? I'm considering buying one of these, and I'd like to see what you have done with yours.

Hmm - resurrecting an old thread, I've got one of these - a 60 - bought it for shallow water Bass fishing after missing the first shot a few times, and then having my spear surrounded by curious Bass....

I put different bands on it to make it more powerful:

TOP = 215mm * 20mm
BOTTOM = 150mm * 20mm

It makes a huge difference having a powerful second shot - the standard lower band was very weak.


I've managed to snag a couple of Bass using the second shot, and I havent had chance to use it much since. Re-rigging it atm, going to get some rail guides and do the sliding ring thing as well I think - will post pics when done, then i'm gonna give it fair dues over the next couple of months and see if it performs...

any pics of the sliding ring setup would be good baubaugene.

hmm scratch the sliding ring - cba to get a welder to put a pin thru my spears - going to put a 1mm steel braid cable loop thru the spear instead.

Just thought you guys might want to hear this,I was talking to Darren shields from NZ(well known spearo down here) and he knows a guy that put a 120 or 130 barrel on that gun(not sure what was the exact length though.

Sounds pretty cool though , Have you guys tried shooting both spears at the same time?

Well - theres the gun with the rails on, still looking fairly "clean" - have yet to rig it though...



And theres the steel cable solution so the string doesnt break after repeated load. The steel cable is nylon coated 1mm stuff, and the ferrule that it's crimped with is 135lb breaking strain, I tried bouncing up and down a 15kg test loop and it held fine, so hopefully that should solve that.



Only thing left to do is bevel off the edges of the exit hole on the muzzle with a dremel - to allow anything that does touch the edge - to pass thru easily.

I think you would have to bolt the two triggers together to get two shots off at the same time Coral - else two handed shot maybe...and it would probably be a bit of a mess I reckon with both spears and line coming out of the muzzle at the same time - tangle ahoy! I heard back when I bought it that a some of the kiwis had success with it as well. I'll see how it goes I spose...
